Well I called Flint Hills National and talked to Rick Hatfield the head PGA Professional today. I had met Rick during the benefit tournament and a nicer, more professional person would be hard to find. It was actually part of the deal that my group play our round before the end of this year, however he told me that they really wanted us to have an outstanding outing to their course, so the club is allowing us to carry this over till next spring. They aerate the greens April first, so Rick Suggested 3 weeks after or so.
The club will pick up our round and carts (for four, $250 value per person) and set us up with an account for any incidentals like beer, food, balls, etc. Beyond that we will have a fore caddy and are responsible for paying him $25 per person. When I asked about tipping beyond that he told me that this was all inclusive and not to feel the need to tip. However, if we feel the person did an exemplary job for us then we were welcome to tip. He added that this was going way above and beyond and would not be expected. He told me not to get too hung up on the dress code other than no denim, but I think I'll find something new and cool to wear with my new THP buckle, lol. Even without seeing this course I have to recommend anyone coming to the Wichita region should check out the course and see if it reciprocates with your club. These guy's are extremely nice to deal with so I can't help but think it will be a great trip. |

$50/bag is pretty typical around here (NY/NJ) at a nice, private club. Poor guy has no idea what he's in for with a bunch of hick's like us, lol. Hope he can drink a beer, hehe. |

Have fun Due, I got invited down there by one of the members a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I wasn't playing golf at the time and didn't want to embarass myself. My cousins took him up on the offer though and said it was the best course they have ever played on.
BTW they didn't use a caddie, maybe because they were playing with a member, but he said for $100/foursome it would be worth it even if it wasn't mandatory. |

I've never hired a caddy. In Ireland we took trolleys because the wife was not comfortable enough with her game to want a caddy with us. That was kind of a bummer. |

Please tell your wife she could never embarass herself in front of a caddy the way I did. Some of the guys have heard me tell this already, but I played with 3 business associates and 2 caddies - all men. We got caught in a torrential downpour. We finished play and it wasn't until I walked into the ladies locker room that I realized how I looked - as though I entered a wet t-shirt contest. I had worn a white shirt that day. The caddies at the club still ask when I'm playing again. ![]() |

Actually, the caddying was only cool some of the time. While there were nice members, a fair number were jerks. Guys who couldn't play a lick, yet liked to blame their shortcomings on the 13 year old kids making $5.00 for toting their enormous golf bags full of cut up balata Titleists. |
