Took off early and played 18 holes.

Started on the back and shot a 42.

Made the turn and shot a 41 on the front.

If not for the snowman on two.....

Default I hate golf
Played nine holes today. After eight I was sitting at 34, a chance to be in the 30"s, never done that before. All I had to do was make par on the par five nith hole..but nooooooo.

I hit my drive right down the middle of the fairway, I' about 250 yds out and I decide to hit my three iron, I just want to get close..instead I pull the ball to the left and into the water. I drop the ball, and I'm 100 yds out going into the wind, too far for for my sand wedge and too close for my PW. So I choke on the PW and send it off to the right , it hits the cart path, takes a huge bounce away from the green and close to a tree.

I manage to chip onto the green and two putt for a fucking 7...and a 41.

Had another chance today to break 40 over nine holes, but I couldn't pull it off.

Shot a 41 on the front and a 40 on the back, for a final score of 81.

I can't feel bad, it's my best score by 6 or 7 strokes.

Feels pretty good that I never broke 90 until late this summer, and now I've flirted with breaking the 80's

Good job.

I lose my drive for golf once football season starts. Haven't played for two months and I have a membership.

Maybe I should just get a punchcard next year.

Can I pose as you and use your membership then? I'm ugly as hell too so I figured nobody would notice the difference.

I liked golf a little yesterday even though I didn't play well. Hit a hybrid to 6 feet for one of our team's birdies, hit it square in the nuts. Hit a few other good shots.

One that was interesting. I hit a lob wedge from 85 yards, we thought it was going in. It hit by the flag so we thought it was close. Got up to the green and saw that it had hit about 3 feet from the pin, advanced another foot, then spun backwards 15 feet. Of course this only happens when you land short. If you throw it 15 feet past the pin it will bounce over the green every time.

We won B flight and I got a shirt. Then I won the raffle I put $20 in and got 3 new hybrids. Then they drew my ticket out for the free drawing and I won a $20 gift certificate. Plus I ate an overwhelming amount of chili and drank more beer than my belly needed.

Reminds me...I do have some Pro shop $ I need to spend. Forgot about it last year.

Time for another $30 baseball cap that advertises some golf company.

Hey at least your golfing. I'm a diehard and haven't hardly played all year. And i hear PA has some awesome courses around my area.

Any of you S-B'ers find yourselves in South East PA, let me know, we'll go hit'em. The only thing I ask is that you swing hard and drink alot.

I bought 4 dozen Callaways for $20 per a couple of years ago. Still got plenty. My son's buddie's Dad also gave me a dozen Pro 6's last spring.

I don't lose many balls.

Apparently not.

If I don't lose them they get tore up from the cart paths or all furry from my wedges.

I'm just getting back into golfing and am really enjoying it, even though I suck as much as ever (if not more). I think the best part is my 9 year old has just started playing and really seems to like it a lot. We've stayed mostly on the range but we just went out on the course together for the first time last week and it was fun.

It's really pretty cool watching him progress. Even though he usually fights me every time I try to teach him something other than golf, he's actually been listening to me, but for the most part I'm just letting him do what he does and have fun. I can tell he'll be better than me in no time at this rate.

Hey dirty hippy I just noticed something on your opening post. When you are in between a SW and a PW instead of choking down have you tried not bringing the club all the way back? One of the best tips I learned I actually discovered myself, then read where it's a Dave Peltz staple.

Take out a SW, go out to 80 yards on a deserted course (not the range) and learn how far you hit it by bring it back only until your arms are at 9:00. Then hit that same club only bring it back to 10:00, then 11:00, then full. Now back up to 100 yards and do the same thing with, say a gap wedge. At first you may need to write them all down but soon you will know what club to hit and how far to bring it back. Then when you get around 100 yards simply dial up the correct club and backswing.

For example I know for me that if I bring a SW back to 10:00 it goes 80 yards almost every time. IF I bring it to 11:00 it goes 90. If I'm at 100 yards I bring a gap wedge to 10:00. IMO it is way easier to do this than to choke down and run the risk of a fat/thin shot.
