Just so everyone knows, I know Diane was just messing with me. I've changed my original post to hopefully show that.

I was mostly complaining but if it keeps happening I may start whining.

The course I played yesterday also had yellow disks in the ground. Not sure what they were marking. Now numbers or anything. Just big yellow disks.

I prefer the 150 yard stake in the middle of the fairway and then sprinkler head distances. The black & white marker is not only great to gauge distance, but it is often a great spot to aim when you have slightly blind tee shots. I like the sprinkler head markers because they are not necessarily measured from the center of the fairway. As I am sure many of you can relate, I am often on one side of the fairway or in the first cut. It is nice when you can just find the nearest sprinkler head and then walk it off to your ball.

Fourputt - Do the distances only have to be verified when the course resubmits their slope rating? Isn't that every 10 years or something like that.
That I don't know. I know that when a course makes any change that has a significant effect on playability, it has to be rerated within a reasonable length of time, but I don't know what that time span is. I'm not even certain that the course has verify any distances if no changes have been made. As long as the distances were considered to be close enough when the course was previously rated, it shouldn't required any verification if nothing has changed.

But that is outside of my area of expertise, so I'm mostly just speaking from what I'd consider to be common sense. That doesn't always apply to the real world...

Guys, if you haven't noticed, Diane never says anything mean or rude to people here. She's pretty Pollyanna.

If there is something in one of her posts that seems like she might be insulting someone, it's a pretty safe assumption that she is teasing.
I don't post here frequent enough to know that.

You're kidding right? You've been here twice as long as me, post twice as often as I do, and I know Diane is a pussycat.

Back on topic - Interlooper has a good point in that the posts in the middle of the fairway are a great visual when you have blind tee shots or doglegs.

In Dent's defense, he was around a lot more before Diane arrived. Dent slacks on his THP posting duties when the season ends.

Dent usually only posts here when it's not golf season. He makes an appearance here and there during the season to let us know he's still out there someplace! He last posted much a long time before Diane got here. But he knows now!

EDIT: I thought he posted when it wasn''t golf season because he didn't have anything else to do? My mistake!)

I am pretty sure some people would disagree like clg82 and a few others. Tone is hard to tell in posts. This is the same thing that she has come down on people like biglefty about in his posts.

So if someone is kidding, use a smiley, make it blatant, say so, or keep it off the board.
