Default New Mizuno MX200
One of my goals before the end of this year was to reduce my iron sets down to only two. I did that a few weeks ago and shared with fellow THp'ers my delight in reaching that goal. Well, I have "fallen off the wagon" and today ran across a deal I just could not pass up.

I was, as usual just stopping by my local golf store to "look around" a bit. I passed by the pre-owned clubs and saw a set of Mizuno MX200 (5-PW) just sitting there. I had been wanting a set because I had heard all the rave reviews and many on the forum talking highly about them. Had to try them and instantly fell in love with them. My "guy" at the golf store (I beleive I can call him my guy b/c of the amount of money I have spent) started to do a fitting and we noticed they were 1/2 longer which is what I normally play and he put the tape on the bottom of the club and after hitting the lie board I was dead center. It was like they were made for me. I may have to go back and tweak some individual irons but for the most part they worked.

Of course I initially told him to hold them so I could think about it overnight. I went back a few hours later and said I gotta have them. We worked out a deal and I paid $200 which he and I thought was a great deal for current model year clubs. He had new ones on dispaly at $700. These clubs were in incredible shape, in fact when they were traded in the salesperson asked the owner if he was sure he wanted to trade these. Boy am I glad he did.

I didnt feel too bad going back against my original goal because these were such a good deal. So now I am back of up to three sets and just plan to keep them all and not try to winnow it down any more because it is obvious I can't handle it.

Looking forward to playing these in the near future. I just had to share.

fantastic score you got there. my old man was in town a couple of days ago, getting his irons re-gripped, and I was hitting a demo 6 iron while we were waiting. Those clubs are amazing. I've got my fingers crossed for the MX 300's. I wish i had the luxury you had (3 sets of sticks). Post some pics and keep us posted.

Just to let you know how much I believe in what the folks on THP say about golf equipment. When I told the guy to hold the Mizuno's I came straight home and looked it up on THP and read the review. I was impressed with the review and went back to pick them up. The salesperson told me the store basically sold them to me for what they gave the guy at trade in. So it was a great deal. He and I have developed a great relationship and pretty much buy all my equipment from him.

Thank you for those kind words Keith. We love your input as well. I will warn you to stay away from tomorrow's review. It could cause lowering of your bank account...hehe

I tried out those mx200's and I thought great things when I hit them square. I think the clubhead is a little heavy for me to make consistent contact with the ball. It seemed like I couldn't get into any steady rhythm in the 3 times I demoed them. I wanted to make them work but I had to move on. Good luck with your collection!

That my problem JB.....I love the latest and greatest. I told the guys at the store that if I come in looking for another set of clubs within 2 years to have me escorted out immediately.

This "free" website is costing me plenty

Great deal Keith. I'll be intrigued to hear how they work for you, since you also use the Burners.

That's priceless! I try to avoid golf shops at all costs unless I am specifically looking for something, or the same thing would happen to me!

That's the one good thing about being a lefty. Rarely do golf shops have anything preowned for me!
