Default Can you golf in a jacket,
sweater, windbreaker, etc?

I have tried numerous times & it completely throws me off, my arms feel constrained.

I struggle with it as well. However I have no issue playing in Under Armor gear under a long golf shirt. Then I throw a cart cover on the cart and a heater inside it, and I am good to go.

I will say that some golf outerwear makes it easier.

That does not sound like Florida golf. Under Armor and Cart heaters.

It can actually help me, as it prevents me from over swinging and my back swing, which causes my left arm to break down.

What I find most difficult in winter golf is sometimes I can't get the tee in the ground!

Got into the low 40s a few times this year on the course and the review of the Clear Vision was awesome. This cover is truly exceptional. And the propane heaters are the best investment anybody that plays in the cold could ever make.

Tomahawx Tees to the RESCUE. We reviewed those last year and have converted hundreds to them. They are one thing that I ALWAYS have in my bag.

Pullover wind shirts are no problem, nor are rain jackets. Last year I invested in a Mizuno pullover. Its like "knit" on the outside, but wind shirt material on the inside. Its really good in cold weather, and stretches as you swing.

I have golfed in a full snow suit, so a jacket would be no problem. Pretty much means an extra club on every shot, but the swing restrictions of the clothing seem to help with accuracy.

The biggest thing for me is the reduced distance you get but it's not a big deal. I don't have any problem swinging, you just can't swing as full or get as much power. Depending on how many layers you have on you have to adjust your distances. Playing in a jacket over one shirt is pretty easy and I don't lose a thing. It is when you have on a t-shirt, a long sleeve t-shirt, a sweater, then a jacket, that is when the swing issues come in.

The best advise is to wear larger sizes when you layer so it is looser.

Speaking of jackets, I get up this morning and its sunny and looks really nice out. Then a glance at the tempature and its a balmy 40 degrees!!! Looks like this might be my first pull over jacket and pants round of the year.

I have a whole collection of wind shirts and wind jackets that I wear. It took a bit of trial and error to find the right fit - they have to be snug, but not too tight.

I agree - an extra large top goes a long way.....

Like, Diane, I have a collection of sweaters, windshirts, vests, and jackets that I wear when appropriate. I always lean toward the larger size that fits me to reduce any restriction in my swing.

Only once have I felt restricted. I played when there was icefog forming on the trees when we teed off. I had on everything I owned and looked like the little kid in "Christmas Story". I was still cold and could barely make a decent swing.

I have trouble wearing a jacket, but think it's more mental to me than anything. We played in a charity last weekend where the temp starting out was 40 and the wind blew hard all day. Worst part was the overcast just made you feel cold along with the wind.

I felt like the jacket restricted my swing too much, couldn't turn and started swaying in my swing.

About half the season I play golf in a sweater or sweater vest. I have no issues with it.

Sweaters and windshirts aren't a problem for me. But rainjackets make me feel a little constrained, especially if I have to wear layers underneath. It's just too bulky.
