There's a course I play when I am in FT. Worth (Rockwood) that is really tough for me to break 90 on. My poor putting, (for what ever reason) is usually the culprit. A bit frustrating to say the least, but I just keep playing that course multiple times on every visit. Other courses in the area are no problem for me to play my normal game.

I think I have quit this game probably a couple of 100 times in the past 45 years. I think the longest period of time I was actually done with golf was probably and hour or so.

If golf was an easy game - we wouldn't play. I'd love to be more consistent - who wouldn't, but knowing that every round is going to bring new challenges - some fun and some frustrating is what brings me back week in and week out.

I was actually done with golf for 6 weeks once. I had spent over 6 weeks having rounds in the 70's and my handicap was sitting nicely at 6.6. I went out with some buddies to play a really easy course one Friday afternoon. Coming up the 18th fairway, I was sitting at 99 and I had a 110 yard approach to the green. I hit a "lateral" into a creek that ran along the fairway. I put my club up, pulled my bag off the cart and told my buddies I would be seeing them, they could bid on my clubs on eBay starting the next morning.

I was seething. I did not pick up a club for almost 6 weeks even though I lived on a course and could see people playing every day. I was a member at a CC and all my friends were calling trying to get me to come back out. I was DONE! I finally took a half set of clubs in an old bag and played 9 on the course where I lived. I didn't hit too many bad shots, so slowly, I started to play again.

I am going to go back to the range and swing 9-to-3 and if I am hitting it solid go the forward tees with just my irons and play 18 using just 9-to-3.
You'll be amazed at how quickly the 9-to-3 drill will get you back to hitting irons crisp again. I've had to utilize this drill and if I catch it quick enough it only takes around 30 balls to really start getting the groove again. Stick with it, you'll be fine!

I know quite a few golfers who are consistent, relatively speaking. My only consistency is my inconsistency. :-)

Thanks...and it has helped.

It happens. Earlier this year, my USGA was at 9.6 and I cleared 100 twice in one month while battling the shanks. It happens to everybody.

That's a tough one. I'm starting to get back on an even keel.

Default I Hate Golf...I Think
I shoot an 80 and a 75 and a few days later go out and shoot a 92. Couldn't hit an iron to save my life, and for the first time ever had the dreaded s...k's.

I am going to go back to the range and swing 9-to-3 and if I am hitting it solid go the forward tees with just my irons and play 18 using just 9-to-3.

Oy Vey!

Not counting my ex-wives, golf is the most frustrating thing I ever loved.

C-Tech, that's one of most quotable posts I've seen, lol. Sounds like something Lee Trevino would say!

There are days that I seriously question why I play this game. Then I come out and play a great round and fall in love with it all over again. But it is so hard to put back to back great rounds together and thats why I admire the pro's game SO much.
