C-Tech - What makes you think it wasn't deliberate?

I've never noticed my own shadow when I'm putting. I do find that I'm usually the only one standing in a spot to cast a shadow on everyone else though.

we dont have enough sun to have such glaring shadows..

A playing companion of mine always complains that he has trouble hitting the ball when his own shadow is cast across his ball at address.

I had never given it much thought, but this Sunday, I played in bright sunlight that was casting very distinct shadows. On a couple of holes, the shadow did not bother me so much as the movement of my shadow seemed to distract me during my stroke.

I think he got in my head without intending to do so. I am such a headcase anyway when it comes to golf.

Unless he's playing with a black ball, the shadow shouldn't bother him so much.

the only time i seem to struggle with shadows is when they affect me reading the break or if someone is tending the flag and casting their shadow over the hole.

Try hitting full shots at dusk without lights, unless you have cat eyes as it gets darker your contact will suffer some. Depth perception suffers as it gets dark and you will hit some tops and fats you normally would not hit in bright daylight. Also if your eyes are weak it may be a problem to go in and out of a shadow as you play because bad eyes need more time to adjust to the change. Shadows don't really bother me too much, I agree with solidkjames that as long as the edge of the shadow is not on my putting line I am ok, total sun or total shade is fine but the edge of the shadow on my line can make reading the break more difficult and no one should ever let their shadow fall over another player's ball or the hole when putting.

So you thought it was a good idea to put it into our heads now?
