I'm the original WYSIWYG.

I may rub some people the wrong way and I also have my fans

Do you Tweet or twitter? Maybe I could become your fan? Is there a monthly meeting of your fans or a facebook page? Just curios.

I will always play with better players if I am given the chance. Like JP says, they can be a great source of learning. One thing I struggle with is getting "in the zone" when I move from behind the ball into the hitting zone. I have noticed that the best players are able to just block out everything else and make a solid swing on every shot. Sometimes I know I get distracted and it almost always results in a problem.

I came back to golf after 20 years. In my youth I had a very good game. Fast forward. 3 months ago I bought new clubs and was determined to get my game back. I spent hours on the range and had plenty of questions for "Ask the pro." After months of practice and hitting two buckets of balls 3-4 times per week plus lessons I finally came to a spot where I felt my game was even better than before. Downside: I've had to lay off now for quite awhile while the injuries that I incurred on the range heal. 2 Tennis elbows, two sloppy knees, and a bad right wrist.

So was it all worth it? You bet your butt it was! I can't wait to get back to it knowing I've finally got my swing where I want it.

I felt I sucked at golf when I first hit the range with my new clubs, but I remain hopeful that at least I have the game within my reach after a lot of work.

I certainly don't boast. I'm either a WYSIWYG or false modesty, depending on the situation. Amongst friends and fellow golfers that know my game, WYSIWYG. Away from the course, I tend to downplay my ability. Although I consider myself a decent player, my game is so inconsistent (I can throw in some real stinkers), I would hate to be 'that guy' that talks up a good game to someone I've never played with, then can't back it up due to a bad round.

Just recently, someone at work asked my about my game. My reply was 'I don't embarrass myself on the course'. He asked what my index was. Now I'm not going to lie. So I told him, but explained I'm really not as good as my index suggests, as I play a home course which I believe is rated too high (I honestly believe this as do many others who play the course).

No, but there is an annual dinner with awards and stuff.

Then there's the statue of course...

Hot & cold describes my game. I can shoot par which is 36 at my home course, or I might screw up & bogey every hole. There days where I have 3-4 birdies & follow those up with a couple bogeys or even a double.

Extremely inconsistent is the best way to describe my game. And it all relates to how my driver is working. If I nail it off the 1st tee & drop it in the fairway, usually it's a decent rd. If I mess up then anything can happen & usually does.

I'm glad you took this a what it was meant to be, just a little fun....After I posted I realized it could have gone horribly wrong.

Let me know when the annual dinner is, I'm there.

I'm a mid- to high 80s shooter, Diane. My biggest problem is distance, or lack there of. I'm very honest and realistic about how far I hit my clubs. The only time I under club is when I hit it thin or fat.

I played with a gentleman today who, on a 470 yard par five hit, driver/8-iron. Yikes!
