All the time. If it's a shot you can run into on the golf course, it should be a shot that is practiced. Just another part of the game.
While I was waiting to tee off today - I was watching a guy practice hitting out of a deep bunker. I have a difficult time when they're deep and I was thinking that I really should practice there. Do you practice sand shots very often, if at all? |

I practice it everytime I work on my short game. Here is THP's Teaching Pro giving a quick lesson for the sand.

I practice when I can. The range I usually go to doesn't have a sand trap for practice, but the 3 best courses that are within 20 minutes do. So when I'm there I'll head into the traps.
Thanks to Amollerud's video, I usually get out in one. I still haven't figured out how to hit the longer shots where the pin is beyond 10 yards from the trap though. That's about as far as I seem to be able to hit them. |
