anybody else cringe.....

When they look down at their shiny Pro V1, Nike One, TM Black etc. whilst holding a lob wedge? I just look down in horror knowing this full 60 degree shot is gonna give my ball a dang haircut! Hit one yesturday and saw the paint stick up from 70 yards as it checked and rolled back. Ugh, new grooves may not be so bad.

F1grandprix 08-24-2009 06:25 PM

Never even thought about, I am only worried about the shot and care less whether the ball gets scuffed or not. That is why they sell them in 3/12 packs so you can have another onehttp://www.thehackersparadise.com/fo...es/biggrin.png

TravelMan 08-24-2009 06:37 PM

The grooves on my wedges are so dull they hardly ever scuff the ball badly. I nearly never hit a full lob wedge either.

Sydneyfonzi 08-24-2009 06:57 PM

Not really. If cutting up the ball means I get a good shot so be it.

Alkassyinhisk 08-24-2009 08:06 PM

I must be a cheap bastard. In fact I know I am. I definitely cringe when I know I am about to scrape off the cover of a new ball. Just like I cringe when a ball hits cart path.

kKFB1BxX 08-24-2009 08:11 PM

Nah - Let it fly - if it gets scuffed it goes into a bag for my mom!

tinetttstation 08-24-2009 08:47 PM

On the other hand, I take great pride in the hair cuts I give. I smile like a clown when I hit a solid wedge. I get almost giddy watching the ball dance on the green. I just can't wait to see those little strands of cover sticking up. Remember Chicks dig scares even on golf balls. So, play them scared up balls

I only cringe when it bounces in the wrong direction. If I get a good cart path bounce - I'm thrilled. Any help I can get is appreciated.

I dont cringe because I dont worry about scuffing a golfball. Some days I lose a golfball long before scuffing it because an issue...

Loonerisav 08-25-2009 12:45 AM

Never ever cringe because I just don't care. It's a golf ball & if it gets scuffed oh well, I will still play it.

LindaSmithIV 08-25-2009 02:31 AM

I never worry about the ball getting damaged. With a 60* wedge there is already enough to worry about. That being the swing. When swinging a LW, you can't be afraid to swing it. http://www.thehackersparadise.com/fo...lies/clapp.gif

Noxassope 08-25-2009 02:33 AM

I cringe at a lot of the shots I take, never because I'm worried about scuffing the ball though.

furillo 08-25-2009 03:04 AM

My goal is to strike the ball so purely that I do scuff it.http://www.thehackersparadise.com/fo...es/biggrin.png

I don't care if it gets scuffed. I like to spin a lob wedge. I like to see it bite and skip to a halt by the hole.

I had a set of MaxFli Revolution irons that I just loved. They had the sharpest grooves I've ever had on a set. Playing a soft ball, it made them look like tennis balls in 3 or 4 holes.

strollerssfsfs 08-25-2009 05:53 AM

Oh don't get me wrong I'll still play the ball for a few holes. It just doesn't take long to fill the shag bag, gets expensive.
