I've had them since early this year. Initially I couldn't hit them worth a lick, but 3 weeks ago I put them back in my bag and I'm loving them. Makes me wish I hadn't ordered a set of Callaway X-22's a few days before the switch. Now I've got the Callaways, so I have to try them out, then make a decision.

The 710 series of irons is coming out soon so wait for either the new model AP2 or a price drop.

I demo'd them and liked them. But not as much as the PING S58s.

I demo'd the AP1's, but not the 2's. I liked the solid feel of them, but ended up not buying them. Found something in a true blade that I liked better.

I liked the Ap2's quite a bit. One of the guys in our 4-some plays them and loves them. They did not crack my top 5 for this year, but they were definitely solid.

I like the AP2 really well. If for some reason I had to replace my S57's, it'd likely be with some AP2's.

I've been fortunate to test them on a number of occasions, on both natural turf and indoor. They feel fantastic, and are a very nice iron. Good lookin' too.

Is it true, they are pretty forgiving, considering?

For forgiveness they are about the same as the Nike Splits, Nickent 4dx pro, and most other players cavity.

I borrowed an AP-2 4 iron from my local country club after my original 4 iron shaft had been bent. I like it, but it wasn't better than my MacGregor M685's.

I have the AP1's & like them, have never played the AP2's. I think the only major difference is the AP2's are forged.

There are more differences. The AP2 has a thinner sole and top line and IIRC is a smaller head. Geared more at the "players' cavity" group. AP1 is more of a full cavity despite being shallow.

Just for your information you might check out Rankmark website, their 2009 Iron test results have the AP1 number one in overall performance, and the
AP2 fourth in overall performance. Personally I prefer the Callaway irons, best to get fitted for proper shaft no matter what irons you select.
