I've hit my driver right about 4 times this year. No matter what I do, I just hit a great big banana off the tee. I'm not pulling my hips through too soon, I'm standing where I'm supposed to be, I just can't figure it out.
I hit my driving iron fine most of the time. It's a shorter club, and I have to bend at the waist substantially more than I do with the big driver. I know it's got to be something in the stance, but I can't figure it out. It's not just a bad slice either, it's coming directly off the club face right, and then it slices to boot. If I stand 60 degrees facing left of my intended target, I might end up relatively close, but that's nonsense. |

There's no way then you're not blocking it right by pushing your hips through before the rest of your body. The only thing that has worked is to just completely rip the club through the hitting zone. I don't like to do that at all. I think even the most beginning golfer knows that the free and easy swing gets more results than a terrible overswing. I might head out to the range here in a little bit and try your suggestion. |

I guess the other thing is you could be "holding" on a bit too long? I'm really not sure anytime i've had such a significant slice where the ball fires off to the right to begin with it's always that my hips flush through the zone before anything else |

I went out to the range yesterday and tightened up my stance. Still pushing about 50% of the drives right off the tee. That's better than it was, but it's still a work in progress. I'm not going out to a course again until I've worked this out to a reasonable degree.
Ryr, I'll try that too. I hit a bucket with the driver and a bucket with the irons. Irons are working fine. Driver, not so much. |
