No One To Blame
The post about the guy complaining about a rabbit moving on the course got me thinking about the insanity out there. What is the most outrageous excuse and/or complaint you've heard out there. One of the funniest complaints I heard was from the group behind us. They said we were messing up their game because we kept putting the flagsticks back in crooked.

That is kind of a legitimate excuse. Our flag sticks if not put in properly could sway 2 yards right or left. Not a big issue, but a real one.
We had someone complain once that our celebrating a hole in one caused them to miss a putt. We apologized and then realized the guy was was 60 feet away and according to his playing partners logged a 12 already on that hole. |

My favorite is the person who is having a bad day who says they are going through a swing change. So, when you ask them what kind of swing change they are working through, they just give you blank stare. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/question.pnghttp://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...s/question.png

This goes back to a thread a few days about that dealt with people you won't play golf with any more. My friend who lives in Scottsdale invited his brother to golf with us on a day we needed a fourth. He complained that the guy started the mower as he was teeing off, a car drove down the street as he was hitting a shot, he made us all get off the tee box while he was hitting because we bothered him. And that was just the front nine! He's one I never golfed with again (it was easy for me, since I live in Kansas, but my friend didn't golf with him either for a long time).
|
I played with a guy who said the cart went too slow and it through off his rhythm.
|
I am not adding much to this thread but some of those excuses are too funny. The swing change one is the best. Me and a friend used that on a playing partner once and the look of complete disdain was priceless. The guy didn't say a word to us the rest of the round.

A fellow stopped and had to restart his entire routine because of an airplane. A fine excuse in some situations, but not when it's 35,000 feet above your head.

Julie: just out of curiosity, how was his shot after that?

A favorite among my group right now is poking fun at the kid on Big Break whose excuse was that he "hit it too pure". Now if someone hits a bad shot, that is what we use....Uh oh, I hit that one too pure...
I played with a guy once, and I do mean ONCE, who had to recap for me why his last shot didn't do exactly what he planned. It was always something, tuft of grass, wind came up, wind died, ad nauseum. To make it worse, it was a customer and he was in the cart with me. I was considering how much business it would cost me if I just tossed his behind into the nearest pond and drove off. |

I normally am going through some sort of swing change or at least exploration. However, i normally just whinge about not hitting it well rather than making excuses.....because after all if it had been struck as intended, then it would have been ok.
A friend i play with isnt very inventive...but it it is NEVER his fault...always the wind, the lie, the greens, the ball, etc... |
I've been out with guys who complained the humidity was cutting their distance.Or who complained about pin placement.Hight of the rough, speed of the green.etc.etc.I just don't understand. It's golf. It's no fun without the challenge. But then I never have broken 90 so what do I know.
