I'm kinda loving that they're going for the early era and visually it looks wonderful in that promo!

Yeah, I'm bummed about Wolverine, but damn Michael Fassbender as Magneto is HOT.

Also, in the first cast image Emma Frost looks like a 60s pin up.

Wolverine was never my favourite X-Men character, so I don't mind at all. Besides, he was introduced later, wasn't he? If I remember right he came around in the 70's whereas the X-Men started off in the 60's.

Love the style in those shots!

I know Wolverine is a hugely popular character, but I was always more of a Storm & Gambit fan

Though, I grew to love and hate Jean Grey/Phoenix, and even named my current computer after her.

p.s.

Back, far-right - who is that? Hot. I mean, we already have James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult but the pretty went up another notch again.

Oh, Gambit! I like him too. He should have been in the films, and not just a cameo in that shitfest that was Origins:Wolverine.

Oh dear, is the guy in red supposed to be Azazel? That would be awful.

I'm loving the old-school outfits.

It looks better than I expected, but that ensemble picture is fucking horrific.

rumor has it that was an "unauthorized release", aka "gotta get some buzz".....whatever the case, its bloody awful. i still cant get over the emma frost/basic instinct thing. anyway, i look forwardish to more trailers/scenes as i have been fooled before by quality xmen trailers and shit shit shit xmen movies. you know who you are origins.

I'm just mostly worried because it seems like the stories they're largely drawing on are X-Men: Genesis, The Draco and Grant Morrison's run - all storylines/runs I found completely terrible.

It has Banshee, though. That makes me very happy indeed.

Even though that's true, the 60s X-men never sold really all that well, and even had a time of only reprints, and I can see why, reading them every once in a while. Some of the stories are just outright bad and inconsistent. Especially Cyclops and Xavier seemed like flat characters. The whole Cyclops - Marvel Girl - Beast - Iceman - Angel team is a heavy theme in later stories, which makes it all the more romantic. I remember being disappointed reading the Mimic story arc for example, since he was factually the sixth X-man (for like one minute).

I think X-men really rose to fame with the overhaul of the team after the reruns and ditching many of the old X-men (that is Havok, Polaris, Angel, Iceman and Marvel Girl [partially], since Cyke did continue and Beast was busy elsewhere) and plunging into the Phoenix Saga with the new team.

Edit: And coming to my point, sadly Wolverine was part of that fame as well, the only -barely- existing character of the new X-men along with Banshee, but why the overusage??? He was always part of nearly every team, not to mention his own series, he is always everywhere at once. I really have grown to dislike him.

I don't like prequels, never liked them. I'm disappointed that the X-men series went in this direction
