According to reports, Bruce Campbell has given a bit of info on the upcoming Evil Dead Remake, and has confirmed that the character of Ash will not be returning. In an interview with TV Guide, Campbell had this to say:
"We are going to remake it. The first one. And people are a little iffy about that [but] we wanted to remake a movie with better effects and we're better at telling stories now... There's no 'Ash' character and that pisses people off [but] we didn't want to have the direct comparison. I wouldn't want to put an actor in that position." The whole interview can be found at www.horror-junkies.com So, thoughts on this? Personally, I haven't yet seen the Evil Dead films, but I know that Ash is a prominent character, and I think it's a bit odd to take the character out of the films if the fans are so up in arms abotu removing him, and if he's a big character in the films. |

Ash IS the Evil Dead Films. Without him, name the new film something else. if they are just going to do the same movies with different actors...im not sure if they should remake them those movies are cheezy classics...which i recommend people own for a laughing kinda scare...or a scary kind of laugh. the original that had campbell was remade later with campbell so there are actually 2 of the first movie |

That character made the movies but I can see his point.
You only have to look at the attempt to replace B.A. - it was never going to work - and it didn't. The new guy had an impossible task to live up to Mr T. I can only see the same happening were they to keep that character in so I can see his point. |
