Default Social media is lying to you about Burma’s Muslim ‘cleansing’
Assalaam'aaleykum!

I do not deny the killings of Muslims in Burma – not even for a minute.

I think it is horrific and I am sympathetic towards the immense loss being suffered by my Muslim brothers and sisters abroad.

What I am against is being lied to.

Imagine the amount of lies we are being fed through these pictures. How can one trust any image online if such drastic manipulation and editing is being done to cater to someone’s political or personal agenda?

Social media and networking sites, if used properly, can be an impressive tool in spreading awareness amongst its users, but it can be an equally dangerous median as well if misused.

These images are false and are only igniting hatred and prejudice in our youth.

We need to become more vigilant and aware of the credibility and authenticity of pictures we browse through. It only takes one wrong image to push us over the edge towards extremism.

Who do you think is more misleading? http://blogs.tribune.com.pk/story/12...lim-cleansing/

The images being circulated are possible going back to atrocities comitted in the past in China and/or Vietnam.

However, the Rohingya Muslims have been regarded as non-citizens by the Burmese government and are persecuted, etc. See this link for more: http://www.restlessbeings.org/projects/rohingya

i just saw a video on youtube posted on 16th June, it had pics that looked like a riot run by muslims. burning rubish in the road & walking around with petrol. the article says that there are 20 000 Rakhine in the area & 200 000 Rohinya, most of the Rakhin had to leave the town out of fear.

I dont know what to believe because both sides of the story are comming for non muslims. those suporting rohinya rely mostly on the BBC reports & those suporting the Burmies are relying of budist reports.

what got to me was why were there only men on the 4 boats sent back to Burma from Bangladesh on that BBC report. did the men leave all their women behind, or were their women dead.

Even the author of that article doesn't deny the persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Burma. He has made himself very clear in his article.

Only reason I posted it here is to make Muslims aware about the false & misleading representation of the situation in Burma which is doing the rounds all over the internet.

the ET article is trash its already been refuted all over social media, a week later ET published another one this time confirming burma killings. While some pics are fake there are plenty of videos not to mention killings have been confirmed by amnesty and HRW. And Bengladeshi Muslims have also confirmed. The ET piece is just for fake liberals to wash their hands of muslims so they can go back to taunting muslims as root cause of all problems. Of course even the writer couldnt deny the killings in Burma.

Salam,

I knew a friend in Qatar from Maynamar, a couple of years back, I asked him "Why don't you go back to your home country and work?" He replied: "They'll kill me if they see me."
