In my local German city , we have some groups who publish the calendar of Ramadan before the actual moon-sighting
In all those calendars the first day of Ramadan this year is mentioned as July 20 , Friday. It seems to me that this date was fixed long before Ramadan comes. Now I have discovered that Saudi Arabia has also started Ramadan on the same day based on false moon sighting as shown in this link. Sadly, my local Arabic mosque follows Saudi Arabia. http://www.wifaqululama.co.uk/home/2...-is-false.html I am wondering if there is any Islamic group in Germany who really try to see the moon through naked eyes. |

Thanks for the link. In the Ramadan calenders that I have obtained from the local mosques , I have noticed that Eid will be on August 19 !!
That means, they expect to see the moon on August 18. But, according to your link, the moon will not seen from Europe on that day. On Saturday, August 18, 2012, it can be easily seen in Southern Africa, Central and South Americas. On August 19, it can be seen in rest of the whole world (See visibility curves). The forum members from Germany are requested to give some feedback about their local moonsighting. |
