![]() InshAllah i will be travelling for umra . I have 15 days off from work. My plan is as follow Go to Makkah mukaram, do Umrah stay 1 or 2 day & then travel to Madina munawarah and do itekaaf in masjid e nabwi for the last 10 days and EID also in madina. I met a friend today who said its better to do the opposite , that is to stay 1-2 days in madina & then last days in Makkah. He said most of the people do this and come for khatmul quran dua in haram while the crowd is less in Madina munawarah in the last 10 days. I dont want to compare both of these sacred places. I just want to know what is the best way of spending 15 days (Last 15 days of ramadan). All i know is that there is something good if you pray 40 consecutive prayers in madina and because Itekaaf is the sunnat of our beloved muhammad saw its better to do it in madina (my feeling) . Can anyone guide me on this..? :S |

Personally I would reverse it (like how your friend suggested), because: 1. I enjoy sitting in mataaf and being so close to the kabah. Also the opportunity to do tawaf. Whereas as a woman in Madinah, one can't get that close to rawdah, so spiritually it is not as uplifting. But I've been told by men that for them it is extremely uplifting as they can do salam directly to the Prophet SAW every day. 2. I enjoyed (and heard others say so too) the tahajjud and taraweeh much more in Makkah more than Madinah. But it depends on whether you have preference for reciters. Check last years taraweeh out on youtube for both places. I have no experience of the difference in itikaaf between both places, so its probably worthwhile checking with the brothers. Its probably also worthwhile checking whether any scholars you feel any inclination to will be there and whether they will be in Makkah or Madinah for the last 10 days. Edit: Just realised you are planning to do itikaaf so you don't plan to keep a hotel in Makkah or Madinah in the last ten days? |

![]() Shaikh ahlezikr says its obvious you do aitekaaf in masjid e nabawi. Its sunnah, Rasool Allah ![]() What ur friend said was zahiri, more crowd etc etc but the roohaniyat is here. In the end its all about personal choice. ....... You need to have reservation to get visa stamped. you can get 2-3 days booking in makkah. In Madinah Munawwarah you r welcome to stay with faqeer. ![]() |

Salam
Just another angle to consider. A fardh prayer in Makkah is considered to be valued at 100,000 times normal prayer, and that in Madinah is 50,000 times. Obviously this will be multiplied with the mercy of Allah swt during Ramadan, so we're talking about huge numbers here, anyways! May Allah accept all of our deeds in this world. |

My personal experience is based on Hajj I went in 2010
we started with Makkah and finished 8 days in Madinnah Spiritually my heart was more uplifted when we were in Arafa (Makkah) but something happened to me in Madinnah and I got so emotional I met some good brothers in Madinnah, esp at the post office who were quite useful (may Allah reward them) and few Saudi Businessmen but more importantly, spending time alone at the roof of the Masjid, reflecting and looking forward to the future Makkah was great but chaotic I would suggest you finish off with Makkah though as I wouldnt wanna miss Friday prayers at Makkah the feeling is priceless. Please remeber me in your duah In Sha Allah |

Bismihi Ta’ala
Whilst it is a matter of personal choice, and both have great merits and tremendous rewards; when we were planning for Umrah in Ramadaan, I had made mashwarah with my respected Shaykh, Hazrat Maulana Yunus Patel (Rahmatullahi Alayh) and had asked as to where we should spend the last 10 nights and Eid. Maulana responded, ‘Eid with Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi waSallam).’ Alhamdulillah. May Allah Ta’ala grant us another opportunity. Alhamdulillah, the itinerary is a very good one – especially considering the overwhelming crowd in Makkah Mukarramah. From my little knowledge : An Umrah in Ramadaan is equivalent to performing Hajj with Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi waSallam). And the Hadeeth also mentions that whoever performs 40 Salaah in Masjidun Nabawi (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi waSallam), not missing one Salaah in between – then the rewards are : Freedom fron the Fire of Jahannum, freedom from punishment and the person will be free from hypocrisy. So you secure both rewards, Insha-Allah. And together with this, is I`tikaaf in the blessed company of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi waSallam). Noorun 'ala Noor. Hazrat Maulana Yunus Patel (RA) would say, that in Ramadaan, it becomes even more evident that our host in Madina Munnawarah is Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi waSallam) – when one sees the magnificent arrangements made for the Iftaar – almost as if Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi waSallam) is sitting at the head of the dastrakhan and providing so so generously for the guests in his city. His barakah is so much more manifest in Ramadaan. May Allah Ta’ala make the safr easy and grant complete acceptance to all who are going. Please do remember us in duas – also for return to the Haramayn Shareefayn and our Salaams at the Raudha Mubarak. |
