Asssalamu Alaykum,

I remember hearing in a lecture that I listened to over the years that Imam Shafi' studied non-verbal communication a great deal and became very good at it, but destroyed the books he wrote on the topic out of fear that it would be a fitnah for the people. Can anyone confirm this as I can't find anything online about it, jazakumAllahukhairan.

I think I ve heard about the subject of determining a person by his body makeup/body language. I don't remember if it was Imam Malik(ra) or Imam Shafi'i.

Also I think Umar(ra) had the skill of reading a persons character by his mannerisms. There is an incident where he correctly finds out a person was a fortune-teller in the past.
