Default Spend O Bilal!

Rasool Allah went to see Hazrat Bilal and found some things with him, so he said:

"Spend O Bilal, and don't ever have any fear of any decrease from the Master (Owner) of the arsh."

The key in this for me is that Shaytaan scares you with poverty thinking that your wealth will decrease when in fact Allah Ta'ala will multiply it manifold. Hadhrat, we need the yaqeen and the will to act on this as it should be acted.

Yes hazrat, you are right! But you know how you will develop that yaqeen?

Assalamu alaykum

It is like sowing your best of the seeds. Surely one can expect many more such seeds.

Only one who has already acquired such yaqeen can instil in others. The scarcity of such Shuyookh is the problem. However, if one goes out in path in search of such means, Allah will take care of the results, whether the means is found or not.

I think the best way to develop that yaqeen is by spending.

I've heard it from Ulama and Fuqaha that the amount does not count, what counts is the percentage of your wealth you spend in Allah's way.

For example, a person earns 5000 riyals per month and spends 1000 riyals in Allah's way while the other person earns 50,000 riyals/month and spends only 1000 riyals. Considering that their Ikhlaas is same, the person spending 20% of his income will get more AJR and Sawab then the one who is spending only 2% of his income.

Yes, self-prescription based on the Sunnah is very effective up to a certain level. The pauper who donates £5 which amounts to half his life-savings may be worthy of greater reward than the millionaire who donates £100,000 which is like loose change to him.

However, it also depends on the level of sincerity and love of Allah that exists in the heart. Even if we donate all our wealth it will never match the handful a wealthy Sahabah (radhiallahu anhu) might have donated, for we will never be able to attain the level of purity of intention and love of Allah that existed in their hearts.

Once the animal that is the Nafs is battered and tamed into complete submission. Once all dunya attachments are annihilated, and ulterior motives are expelled from the heart, and ONLY the love of Allah exists in the heart, then the Sunnah becomes relatively automatic without the need to strive – for there is virtually nothing left to strive against.

The true Shaykh is one who has already been through such a thorough process, and has been certified to put others through the same process.

Shaytaan promises (threatens) you with poverty (telling you that you will become poor if you spend in charity) and orders you to (do acts of) immodesty whereas (if you spend in charity) Allaah promises you forgiveness from Him and (tremendous) bounty (an increase in provision). Allaah is All Embracing (His mercy and bounty surrounds everything), All Knowing (He knows the intentions and actions that people make public and those that they keep secret).

Baqarah: 268

You shall never reach
(true, perfect) righteousness until you spend of that which you love. Whatever good (wealth) you spend, Allaah is certainly Aware of it (Allaah knows exactly where, when, how and why you spent and He will reward you for it).

Aali 'Imraan: 92

Whatever good
(wealth) you spend (in charity for Allaah's pleasure), He will replace it (with a reward that is much more valuable). He is the best of providers.

Saba': 39

To Allaah belongs the treasures of the heavens and the earth but the hypocrites do not understand
(this).

You mentioned this today and just as I am reading Ma'Ariful Quraan I come across this verse, !!

0 those who believe spend from what We have given to
you before comes a day when there is no trading, no
friendship, no intercession. And the disbelievers are
the unjust. (Surah Baqarah Verse 254)

Many of the brothers are correct in stating that we need to establish a connection with a true Shaikh who is able to diagnose the illnesses of our hearts and make us grow.

91:9 He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow

Muslims living in the West are rich, no matter what they say they have no problems to eat, inhabit, and buy the minimum. So they should not think they are doing an exceptional service when donating to charities..

Nobody should think that whether rich or poor. The one who does so will have done more harm than good to his self.

wa rahmatullah,
This is what I experience. You cannot debate most western muslims are rich, even if considered 'poor' because they don't own their house, or don't have latest cars and so on.

I have spent with the intention that Allah will never bring financial crisis to me and in times of need Allah ta'ala has arranged money for me from unexpected ways. May Allah give us ability to spend through out our life with true intention

Her Rabb accepted her (accepted Maryam from her mother) with special acceptance, granted her an exceptional upbringing, and placed her in the custody of Zakariyya . Whenever Zakariyya went into her chamber (her room where she lived and worshiped Allaah), he found food by her (including fruit that was not in season). He said, "O Maryam, from where did you get this?" She replied, "It is from Allaah. Allaah provides for whom He pleases without count (without limit, in a manner that is beyond one's comprehension and imagination)."

Aali 'Imraan: 37

Allaah shall create an escape (from difficulties) for the one who fears (disobeying) Allaah (one who has Taqwa). And shall provide for him (what he requires) from sources that he never expected (to receive provisions from). Allaah is Sufficient (to solve all problems) for the one who trusts in Him (who is convinced that only Allaah can assist him). (Allaah can certainly solve any problem a person has because) Allaah certainly brings (all) His affairs to completion (as He wills) and Allaah has set a measure for everything (therefore, things happen when He decides). (A person who trusts in Allaah knows that Allaah will solve his problems when Allaah decides that the time is right.)
