I was wondering if the moderators, mashaikh and IT experts of Sunni Forum could come together and initiate an SMS Service to generate funds for charity and donations to madrassahs, religious events, meets etc. By the SMS Service what i mean is people should be able to send their donations through sending an SMS. Shawkat Khanam Memorial Cancer Hospital and Pakistan Red Crescent Society have an SMS Service whereby people send a blank SMS to 7770 and 4611 respectively and whatever is the amount of money an SMS is worth ( the cost of an SMS for Shawkat Khanam is PKR 25 and for Pakistan Red Crescent it is PKR 10, exclusive of taxes ), it goes towards the donations. The total amount of donations thus depends on the number of SMSes sent. I think this is a very convenient way of contributing towards the financial well-being of the Ummah and lucrative too, in the sense that nowadays, almost everybody keeps a cellphone. So, the women in particular or people in general who dont work and cannot go out to donate to some cause or are not allowed to participate in any Islamic charitable work for some reason, will now be able to contribute as and when they like. What say?
