Assalamu Alaikum
I received this in an email from a Salafi brother. "Making the Du'a Khatmul Qur'an in congregation. This is not from the Sunnah of the Messenger (صلى الله عليه و سلم). Rather there are Aathar of Anas Ibn Malik doing it outside of prayer. Meaning that after he finished reading the Qur'an he used to gather his family and make Du'a with his family. " He was trying to refute the practice of making dua in congregation after completing the Quran in taraweeh. Can anyone post the Aathar he was speakign about. From what I understand, making congregational dua after fardh salah is not the practice of the Prophet Salalahu alayhi wasalam, nor his companions RA. What about congregational dua after completing the Quran, in salah or outside of salah, is this the pracitce of the prophet Salalahu alyhis wasalam and his companions RA? In other words, do the people who recommend dua after fard salah should be done individually, would they recommend the same for dua after completion of Quran in taraweeh? NOTE: I do nto want to create an argument over congregational dua, but I just want to clarify these issues. Jazak Allah |

Salam
my teacher/qari saheb told me that the practice of congregational dua was laid by musa (as) wherein he would read the dua and haroon (aS) would say ameen after the duas. regardless according to the the ahnaf making dua in congregation is perfectly fine and recomended in certain instances however insisting on it as a wajib would lead to trouble. |
