![]() The later Hanafi scholars have mentiond four reliable mutun of the Hanafis. As also mentioned by Mufti Sa'id Palanpuri in his hashiya of Uqud Rasm al-Mufti. When the later Hanafi scholars had not written any matn, "texts" (mutun) were referred to those works written by Tahawi, Karkhi, Jassas Razi, Hakim Shahid etc. When the later scholars wrote mutun, some gave importance to 3 works: Kanz, Quduri and Wiqaya. But the most later day scholars gave preference to the following four texts: Kanz, Wiqaya, Mukhtar and Majma' al-Bahrayn. Wiqaya Taj al-Shari‘a Mahmud bin Sadr al-Shari‘a al-Akbar Ahmad bin Jamal al-Din Ubaydullah Mahbubi Bukhari. Died in the 7th century. He wrote a book on fiqh for his grandson Sadr al-Shari‘a al-Asghar Ubdaydullah bin Mas‘ud called wiqayat al-riwaya fi masa’il al-hidaya. A summary has been given in this work of the juridical issues mentioned in Hidaya. His grandson wrote a commentary which is famous as Sharh Wiqaya. He also summarized the work known as Nuqaya. Quhustani wrote a commentary of this work called Jami‘ al-Ramuz which has been published. Mulla ‘Ali Qari also wrote a sharh which is published as Sharh Nuqaya. Sharh al-Nuqaya by Ali al-Qari can be downloaded here: http://www.almeshkat.net/books/open....t=38&book=2417 Kanz Kanz al-Daqa’iq by Imam Abu al-Barakat Abdullah bin Ahmad Hafiz al-Din Nasafi (d. 710). In this work he summarized what the author wrote in Kitab al-Wafi. Al-Bahr al-Ra’iq and al-Nahr al-Fa’iq are well-known commentaries of the work. Al-Bahr can be dowloaded here: http://www.waqfeya.com/book.php?bid=5011 Al-Nahr is downloadable here: http://www.waqfeya.com/book.php?bid=5010 Mukhtar Al-Mukhtar lil-Fatwa by Majd al-Din Abu al-Fadl Abdullah bin Mahmud bin Mawdud Mawsili. (599-683). Born in Mosul. He was a judge in Basra and died eventually there. He wrote a commentary on his own book called al-ikhtiyar li-ta‘alil al-mukhtar which is published. Abd al-Hay Lucknawi wrote that tese two books are reliable according to the jurists. Ibn Amir Haj Halabi, the commentator of munya, also wrote a sharh of this book. Qasim bin Qutlubgha made a takhrij of the ahadith of the book. Others also wrote a sharh. Al-Ikhtiyar with tahqiq of Shu'ayb al-Arna'ut can be downloaded here: http://www.waqfeya.com/book.php?bid=5014 Majma’ al-Bahrayn Majma’ al-Bahrayn wa Multaqa Nahrayn (or multaqa nayyirayn) by Muzaffar al-Din ibn al-Sa‘ati ahmad bin Ali Baghdadi (d. 694). In this work the text of Quduri and Manzumat al-Khilafiyat are gathered together. That is why it is called majma‘ al-bahrayn. The author of manzuma is the author of aqa’id nasafiyya Najm al-Din Abu Hafs Umar bin Muhammad Nasafi ( 461-573). A sharh of this Manzuma is written by the author of Kanz Hafiz al-din Abdullah bin Ahmad Nasafi called al-Mustasfa. He summarized it with al-Masfa. The author of Majma’ al-Bahrayn wrote his own sharh also. Because in this work, every issue is handled which was discussed by Quduri, the later scholars did not add Quduri amongst the four reliable texts (mutun).
