It's been 3 days since i found this 2-3 month old Alaskan Malamute puppy, I've let him in to my house and have been taking care on him since (I don't allow him to touch me when in my prayer clothes or allow him in my prayer room), My nearest animal shelter is 50 miles away and to be honest I've gotton fond of him and don't want to give him away what do I do? Is he allowed in the house or should I create a big den for him in the garden 6ftX8ft? If you would like to know I found him in a garbage bag with little food near a remote spring, most likely left to die.
I know it's frowned upon to keep a dog not Haram. |

The animal shelter folk should come to you if you can't get to them. Re. keeping the actual animal, it may only be allowed if you need it as a guard dog. Not sure what the ruling is for keeping it as a general pet though. |

Don't either be extravagant in his care, but be careful look after him properly and with care. If you are in a place that gets very hot or cold make sure that his shelter protects him from the elements. Feed him on appropriate food. Take him for his innoculations and have him wormed. If you are not sure about having the responsibility of keeping him then take him to the animal shelter. Trust your heart. |

If you wish to keep him then, keep him as a guard dog not as a pet, but treat him kindly, well and with respect for his needs and self. |

Where I'm from it's really cold (-15 in the winter and 10c in the summer) and it may be inhuman for me to leave it outside so could I keep it inside but not let it into my prayer room~? I was going to say 'where are you Alaska?' and then I remembered the type of dog ![]() |

I have heard even a Hanafi scholar say that in circumstances like that you can bring a guard dog in, but in such situations the less parts of your house he goes in the better. Maybe you need to put on a back porch on your house anyway or something like that? ![]() the porch is pretty big at 25ft in length and 12ft in height and I guess it'll be a good spot for the dog, thank you for your help and yes I moved to Alaska 2 years ago, working as a Psychologist. |

The porch is a great Idea, the house I live in is about to get a porch do-over due to bad weather at the expense of the insurance company ![]() mmm Alaska, lol I am now drifting back into the mists of time and remembering the 1990s tv series Northern Exposure. Maybe they could remake the series but this time base it around a Muslim Psychologist moving up there instead of a Jewish Physician ![]() |
