Default Long-Term Weight Management
For long term weight management you need to focus on three areas that will help you lose weight and keep it off the right way.

1. Cardio Exercise. Cardio is a great way of burning a lot of calories in a short period of time. After all, it comes down to calories taken in vs. calories burned for weight loss.

2. Nutrition. You can work out 7 days a week for hours a day and not see results if you are not eating right. Proper portions, meal timing, and having the right balance of foods in your daily diet should be observed. Spend some time with a Nutritionist and educate yourself on what those balances are for you.

3. Strength-Training. Men and Women need to strength train to keep weight off long term. The more muscle you have, the more calories your body burns while at rest. Studies have gone back and forth, but many experts say 1 lb. of muscle burns 40-70 calories a day and 1 lb. of fat only burns 3 calories. So the more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism is and the easier it is to keep weight off! Many men find it hard to "bulk up" when they are trying, Women don't have the genetics to "bulk up" and should not worry. As long as they are doing high intensity, high repetition strength training they will build "lean sexy muscle" that burns calories all day long!

I also do cardio exercises at least 3-4 times a week. I totally agree with number 2. A well balanced diet and regular exercise is the key to losing weight.

Very good post! I don't do strength training though. I don't want to overdo it and look muscular but I am doing exercises to help me tone up my muscles.
