Hello from Engerland !
I just started low carbing about 4 days ago. Not in ketosis, feeling less bloated. Felt down for the first couple of days, I sort of lost my energy and enthusiasm, but getting back to normal. How long have you been doing it ? how do you feel ? |

i felt good when i started it.. plenty energy but im doing CKD so i get a 'carb up' once a week http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...on_biggrin.gif i usually do a 10-15week cut once a year so its very easy for me to be strict knowing "it'll all be over soon" haha. im into my 4th week now and im 12lbs down after my carb-up day (sunday) weigh in's on a monday morning. how low are your carbs to not be in ketosis after 4 days and how are you measuring ketosis? |
Hi... Most of us here are in the mind set of making this the way we at all the time for the rest of our lives. To us it is. Ot a diet. I know for my body, my blood sugar skyrockets if I eat too many carbs and one day a week of "carving up" would sabatoge all my work throughout the week. If you can do it, more power to you.
Usually the first two weeks to a month you are tired. The headache and all go away pretty fast. Be sure you get your salt and fats to decrease the lack of energy. |
well, I just got some ketone sticks off e bay and did a random test, I got a slight amount and then later, a negative. I'm just aiming to reduce carb intake to less than 20 grams a day, hoping that it does something. I had a gastric band, and lost 6 stone, and then it stopped working so I had it removed, and had a bypass. I have lost 2 stone with the bypass, but the weight loss has ground to a halt. The surgeon said that following revision surgery, the weight loss is less predictable. I have 2 more stones to loose, so I thought I would give low carbs a go. The bypass means that I cant eat bulk because my stomach is small. Also, too much sugar and it makes me feel very nauseous. I am almost low carbing any way so thought I may as well go for it and keep it under 20 grams.
Why do you have carbs once a week ? Sounds very yummy, does it slow down the weight loss ? |

FYI about those sticks... the fat you eat that gets digested and metabolized also shows up in your urine. So don't assume that a positive reading on the sticks means you're losing body fat. All it shows is that you have ketones in your urine. A high fat meal prior to testing will give you a darker reading. If you're very well hydrated you will have a lighter reading (ketones are diluted). The darker/lighter readings in these cases mean nothing as far as fat loss goes.
So use the sticks if you find them encouraging (for whatever reason) but don't rely on them to determine body fat loss or anything else. |
There you go being a wealth of info again Tril. I didn't know that about the sticks so I always worried a bit when I had little or no reading. Thats when I figured I had accidently ingested some disquised sugar or hidden carbs somehow. Now I won't get so freaked.
