Stillmans/Atkins query from newbie!

Hi I'm a newbie to this site but not to low carb, but over the years I've lost my way a bit! Recently I found out about the Stillman diet online and decided to give it a go. It's low carb and low fat, which makes it quite low calorie as well. Anyway, I lost 8 lbs in 4 days which is amazing but all of a sudden it's stopped, although I'm following the diet to the letter. It's so strict it makes Atkins induction look like a walk in the park but I'm scared that if I switch to Atkins and start consuming fat my 8 lbs might go straight on again!
As I'm used to old school Atkins I'm a bit confused about the emphasis placed on vegetables now as I used to lose without them before. It is from a health aspect or do they actually help you lose?
This seems to be a really clued up and sensible forum so I would really appreciate any help or advice anyone could give me. Thanks a lot x

I know, I know!! I was sucked in by the promise of losing a pound a day, and to be honest I needed something like that to give me a kick start and it certainly did that. It was really hard core but for a week, manageable, but when I stopped losing it seemed pointless going on. So, yesterday I decided to segue into Atkins Induction, but knowing I'd have to be very careful to avoid gaining, I was ultra careful-only adding a couple of salads with red pepper and cooking some chicken in a teaspoon of oil...and am thrilled that I have actually lost weight this morning! Only a pound but that's fine by mehttp://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...on_biggrin.gif
Incidentally, I like the long, red pointy peppers (called Ramiro peppers in UK) but am thinking as they are sweeter they might be higher carb but can't seem to find this info anywhere-do you happen to know? Thanks a lot.

I found this:

"Ramiro sweet pointed peppers are a sweet variety of the common pepper. They are slightly smaller and due to a higher sugar content their taste is sweeter than that of normal peppers. They have a longish pointed shape and exist in three different colours, red, yellow, green."

The Sweetest Pepper on the Planet

The roots of the Ramiro Pepper lie in the Italian countryside, where true pepper lovers cultivated this variety to become what is now the sweetest, tastiest pepper available. The high sugar content, thin skin and striking red and yellow colors make this pepper a favorite with both children and adults."

Every thing I read talks about how sweet they are! You are right to question the carb content because of this. I found one bit of nutrition info on these... 100g of peppers have 6.03g carbohydrate. No info on fiber so I don't know if that's net grams or total grams.

That's great Tril - thanks a lot. I'll have to watch how much I'm eating!
