Congratulations, Scott! We are all proud of you, and you should be proud of your accomplishment too!
Way to go! *pats Scott's back* ~Debbie~LoveSong~ http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif |
Thanks, all! http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...on_biggrin.gif
I actually thought there might be a chance for me to get a trophy, but my age group (30-34) seemed to have a fair share of dedicated runners. First in my age group was 18:50, second was 20:22, and third was 21:12. Top finishers overall were both high school kids from the school where my sister is asst. principal. The guy did it in 16:24 and the girl did it in 18:16. Man, those high schoolers were fast! My sister was a little afraid she wouldn't finish so she didn't try to run very fast. Even with that, she still ran faster than she ever had before and came across at 30:06 (with me there cheering her on of course). http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif |
Ok, you are offically a JOCK now....
Way to go on your race!! |
Great job, Bagadonitz! I waited a little while for my first 5k but now I wish I had started them earlier. They're a ton o' fun.
Patty, no, they didn't have a photographer at this one. We actually had planned on taking a camera but with all the other things we were trying to remember, it slipped our minds. If we do the next 5k in 3 weeks, I'll make sure to get one. |
Goodonya Scott! http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...on_biggrin.gif Very proud of you! 8)

Race Day News
Just got back from my first 5k race. I feel like a real runner now! http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...on_biggrin.gif Hey, call me an athlete, I don't mind.
It was seriously a lot of fun. It wasn't a huge number of people (about 100) but to be in a pack of runners like that was still a huge motivational lift. I'm actually considering signing up for another one in 3 weeks. http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif As for the results, I actually did a LOT better than I had hoped. Going into the race, all I wanted was to complete it in under 30 minutes. Well, I beat that by a good margin. http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...on_biggrin.gif I crossed the finish line at 25:04. Unfreakin-believable, I thought. After the first mile, the guy yelled out 8:01 to me. I though, oh crap, I'm never gonna keep this up. Well, after figuring it up, I actually didn't slow down too much. For the whole 5k, I averaged an 8:04 minute mile. I can live with that. :P Anyway, thanks to everyone for the support and a big thank you to Patty for getting me to sign up for this race in the first place. http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif |
Fantastic!
I'm almost done couch to 5K. After that I'm going to look for my first race myself and I can't wait. I hope my results will be that good but realistically I'll probably be around 30 first time out. |
Great job Scott.........WOOT http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...on_biggrin.gif
