Intolerable Pain. :(
I have no explanation, I think I'm being punished.
Yesterday, had a good walk in the morning but as many of you know my right foot can be pain in the butt for me. I found that on the weekend, my foot doesn't bother me, most likely because I take my shoes off right after my walk. So monday morning, I took my right shoe off at work. My boss noticed, and said oh oh that's not a good sign, your better look into getting some orthapedic inserts etc. I agree'd and said "At least my Left foot couldn't feel better". I guess that's when it all started, by noon I started noticing a little discomfort when I walked around the office. After work I went shopping for a few things ( cheddar half price http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif ) and was really beginning to feel like my ankle was just grinding together. By the time I got home and took my shoes off I could barely move it. I managed to do my exercises(chest no biggie), but by the time I was done, my ankle was throbbing. 8pm I took 3 extra strength advil, watched a movie or tried too. The throbbing pain only got worse, no relief at all from the advil. At 9:30pm I took 4 more extra strength Advil. I couldn't sleep for 2 hours, do to extreme soreness. Finally I did, I think because of the Advil and woke up shortly after drenched from head to toe in sweat, and more throbbing pain. Anyway I just think it's really strange the way things sometimes happen. The foot that feels mild discomfort, is now completely fine and feels great. The other foot which has been fine through these last few months of exercise is a complete disaster. I won't be walking or doing exercises that require me to place alot of stress on my feet (tonights shrugs, and tomorrows squats, possible leg curls). So... the pain is eminating from a slightly swollen area front to bottom side of my outer ankle on my right foot. The swelling is only slight, and if you touch the right spot it hurts like hell. Don't matter if you move the foot or not, it throbbs like hell. Quite frustrating really. Sort of feels like a badly twisted ankle, only I don't remember twisting it in the slightest. If anyone has some insights I'm all ears. I know I should take so much advil (took three this morning, but I can't tell if its making a difference) but I don't know what else to do. I might have to see doctor? But I usually like to stick these things out a bit. I think that walking around with my right shoe off and my left shoe on at work may well of caused it some how? Oh well, just wanted to whine and tell everyone how crappy I'm feeling. I'll be back at it soon enough I hope. |
The Doctor, pretty much thought it was Gout too... we only spoke all together for 2 minutes... I'll have a prescription as soon my brother gets home and I can drive him to the pharmacy.

Sorry to hear your in PAIN...
The thing that concerns me is that it was bad enough to wake you up out of sleep with heavy sweating....the only time I've known of that problem (back in my jock days) was when someone tore something or severly pulled a muscle. Did you trip on anything that you remember? If nothing tore...then time should help. Give it a couple days, if still a problem...yup, off to the doc. My other suggestion you might not want to wait on. For me, the over the counter ibuprofin seems to have an iron oxide coating on it. If I take more then 4 tablets a day it really causes my stomach problems. I have a perscription for 800mg Ibuprofin pills (they are pretty cheap from the pharmacy too) that for whatever reason, don't cause the problems I get with the over the counter version taken in 800mg doses. (Probably by design...) You may be able ot get a perscription for it just by calling your doc... On the other hand, perhaps you should go visit the DR. THink how IMPRESSED the whole Dr office will be with your GREAT progress to date! |
Oh, I'm sorry about your foot. I know what a nuisance injuries can be.
RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif Advil is good, too. Anything with ibuprofen. |
You might have been walking differently on your left foot without realising it, when I've had knee problems in the past my hip on the other side would start to hurt after a little while http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...on_exclaim.gif
If you have to lay off the exercise for a bit you can still go swimming as that's a good exercise for injuries. |
Just look after yourself Jon, & if it doesn't feel better soon (2 days max.)after the 'RICE' treatment that Patty suggested....go to see your Dr.

I agree with Bliss (as usual http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif ), that pain sounds bad. Time to see a doc.
Serenity is right, too. A few weeks ago, I had to work in NYC, and it was over a mile from the train to my office. I got a blister on my foot on the way in, causing me to walk funny on the way back. The awkward gate hurt my other foot, too. |
I'd recommend RICE until you can get an appointment at the Dr. You may be able to call the Drs office and talk to an advice nurse or someone to give you medical advice.
Don't mess around with it - as bad as it feels now it can get worse! |
