Personally, I'm a video junky. I have about 30 tapes and use almost all of them. They just cycle around so I don't get bored. I find that I just don't push as hard as doing exercises by myself. It's like being in a class. I'm not going to just dance around for a full hour unless something is motivating me.

Tapes do not have to be expensive. If you are just starting out, make sure to buy tapes that do not require any special equipment. If you do, choose ones that use standard equipment that can be used in other videos. Ie, many videos use a step or set of dumb bells. Tapes like Tae Bo don't require equipment. Tapes like the Firm use steps that different from other videos.

Default Has anyone ever used...
Any of the vidoes by Beach body? I was watching an infomercial yesterday about the whole "Slim in 6" program, where there are like videos for 6 weeks that you do 6 days a week and follow some eating plan (dont know what type of plan), and apparently supposed to have amazing slimming effects in 6 weeks....

check out www.beachbody.com if you are wondering. anyways, it seems a little too good to be true...the videos are $60 (US) plus S&H, so for me that would be about 100 Can...so I was wondering if anyone had tried these or knew anyone that had??

I usually dont buy into these info things, but this one was based on a fitness routine really, not any pills or anything.

So, any opinions??

PattyC,
I know I've discussed this with you before I think, but I also like to do tapes. Could you make recommendations for some of the more low impact aerobic tapes? I need something to help me decrease (rather than increase) my muscle mass. I need major cardio I think. At least for rainy days.

I've never tried these. The site videofitness.com gives lots of customer reviews of videos. Maybe you can get some insight.

I was up too damn late last night & caught part of that infomercial. Seems like a major work-out and a diet combined. Think I'll save my $$$ and stick to this. I don't want to work that hard.

Why should it cost you money to exercise?

My opinion: Those tapes are made and sold by people with one idea in mind.. to get your money. Start walking. Start doing some low impact aerobics. Do simple basic exercises; even some light weightlifting. Learn to meditate while you exercise and you will enjoy working out more than with some expensive tapes. Save your money and learn to naturally be active.

Good Luck!

Why spend the money on something you might use for a short bit and might gain back when you stop the video workouts when you can walk, run, or anything else to get your heart rate up and loose weight. Since I've been on the diet, I've found myself to have so much energy and spunk I'm almost doing two workouts in one day. This diet is about the best thing that has happened to me in a very long time.

I bought some Beach Body videos about 4 years ago. I guess you can tone up and slim down with any exercise program but my problem was actually doing them. I suggest not buying them (thats alot of money) not unless you know your gonna do it. I know when I spend money on things like that and I don't lose any weight (my fault of course) I really get down on myself. I have decided to just walk and maybe oneday join a gym.

Thanks for your input everyone.

I do exercise right now...30 min cardio 5 x's a week on my elliptical/stepper, and 3 days of arm and ab work. I guess I was just looking at the tapes as a "proven" method for exercising to lose weight. Like making sure that I am exercising the most effective way possible. The routine (whatever it is) boasts the maximum effect for weight loss, and I was just wondering if anyone had used them or heard of anyone who had.

I hesitate to buy tapes because in the past i have not been very good at doing them...try for a week or two, then they collect dust. When I use the tapes it has to be time I put aside just to do exercise, and that is hard for me to do. I have my elliptical and other equipment right in front of the TV so I can watch my shows while I exercise, so i have no excuse - and for once its working and i have found something that i can commit to. however, if I had proof that this 6 week routine would really work, then i think i could do it. i know i could actually.

i am going to hold off ordering them for now. i may check price club or other stores for them when i am there next, but if anyone does come across any more info about these, please let me know.

Thanx!

I haven't seen these you already have the diet, Sam's Club and Costco carry the popular fitness and pilates tapes for much cheaper. I somewhat disagree with Teuthis about tapes. In an ideal world we should just exercise but with young children a full time job and home to take care of not to mention lifes other curveballs the routine imposed by a tape can make all of the difference it did at least for me.
