The body evidently only tosses off ketones at specific times. I remember reading in the Atkins book that you would not always register ketones in the urine, even though you are in the state of "ketosis". Perhaps the exercise shuts down that mechanism temporarily. I've never used the strips, but I wonder if you have detected any general times of day when you register more ketones, than at other times.

Good Luck!

Could it be that sweating releases excess ketones? I know that is why they show up in urine. Maybe the body disposes of them through sweat as well. Thought to ponder...

Default Why do ketones stop showing up after exercise?
I know I read this somewhere, I think Northernlady posted about this but I can't remember. Why do ketones stop showing up soon after you exercise/weight training? Does it have something to do with something being released into the blood stream from the muscles? I'm just curious.

It's because fat is broken down by the liver into a few things...one being ketones. These ketones are what is used by the muscles for energy. After you exercise, many of the ketones you've broken down from fat have been used so you have less to show in your urine.

Or so I've been told...
