I think I actually strained a muscle in my groin. It's on the inner thigh, right at the joint. I was doing an inner thigh exercise where you lie on your side, place a weight on the thigh and do lifts.
I normally do this exercise with an 8 pound dumbbell. I was doing a different sequence this day (same routine in a different video). I still had on 5 pound ankle weights and was using a 10 pound dumbbell. I guess I strained the muscle, and it's not healing. I'm sure there's not tear, as there is no swelling. It just needs more rest than I've been able to give it. I've been treating it with both heat, ice and hot baths, but it keeps coming back. |

PattyC -
Hope thigh feels better soon. I know it's frustrating. We're all rooting for your rapid recovery! You might want to ask a question here http://boards.health.msn.com/topic.asp?topic_id=64 about what to do with that injury. Rich Weil is an expert on running and may have some advice. |

Tuesday
I'm not sure why I'm logging another rest day. I guess it's all for the accountability. After work is my daughter's dance class. Then comes dinner and homework, so I know I won't do anything tonight. Tomorrow, I'm scheduled for 7 miles. I may change it to a strength day if my leg is feeling bad. Plus, we're getting 3-6" of snow today, but I'm sure the roads will be clear by tomorrow. |

Thanks, Brian, I'll check that link out. I've asked in the "Med Tent" in Coolrunning, and the general consensus is that I shouldn't run this marathon
![]() Thursday I did a strength video today. There are a couple of jogging segments which were quite painful. This video has the same segment that caused my injury - needless to say, I skipped that part ![]() Firm: Volume 1 (60-min) This is a pretty old video (80s), but I still think it's one of the toughest of the Firm. You have to get past the jazz shoes and leg warmer ![]() |
