Default starting today
Starting today I am going to walk up the stairs (3 flights) to get to my car, I use to only walk down the steps to get to work from the parking garage.
Well dang it I am going to walk up and I don't care how long It takes me to get to my car.

Good for you! That's the first step towards real vigorous exercise. Do it every day and within a couple of weeks it just might seem too easy for you! Then you can conquer new challenges. Just do it step by step and don't worry about being in a hurry.

Good Luck!

Oh my God T, I thought I was going to die. My car was parked on the 4th floor of the parking deck. I made it up to the 3rd floor and had to take the elevator the rest of the way. I was winded and sweaty. My heart was pounding so hard I thought I would have a heart attach. Well at least i did 3 flights. Phew!

Jogging! I was almost at a crawl today. I did not think that I would make the 3 flights.
I could feel my heart in my head pounding. Scarey

Well done Wendy, three flights is better than no flights...maybe in a few weeks you can make it up to four and then start to run up there!

Congrats on getting active!

Now keep doing it! Only do what you can, but keep at it and eventually you'll be going right up the four flights. We progress a little at a time over time. The key is consistence and determination. I'm proud of you!

Good Luck!

Dang! It took me 15 minutes to get up all 4 flight of steps. Phewie Its was hard. I had to stop a couple of times and sit down or fall down. Maybe I should take up riding a bike. Whatcha Think.

Precisely. Work your way up. But don't give up that goal. Do the two levels until you can do it well; and then add another level. Expect it to be difficult. That is how we progress. Biking might be a good way to go too. That way you can coast when you need to.

Good Luck!

I don't know the names of the basic bike brands in the USA but I am sure you'll be able to pick up something basic for $300. Presumably Walmart(?) or Toys-R-Us will have something suitable and you may well have a bit of change.

Aim for a mountain bike - at that price it will never survive any off road use but it will have a wide range of gears that will make it easier to get into the swing of. Start with a really low gear and as you find it easier you can build up from there.

Saddle wise you may need to visit a specialist bike store to get what you are after - in the UK you could find something suitable (and get the shop to fit it) for under £25.

Best of luck - and don't forget the helmet.

Personally I ride what would have been considered a boys bike..

I think the only difference is because of the bar in the middle and when bikes were a standard mode of transportation,, most women were still wearing skirts..ahahahaha.. think about side saddle on a horse.. not me, I going to ride stradle..ahahahaha..

But I honestly can't remember ever seeing a "girls" model in a beach cruiser type bike.. I"m sure they have them, but I don't think I"ve ever seen one..

I just figure, a bike is a bike, no matter where they put the middle bar.. I just seem to like the bar high instead of low.. and for that matter,, I think it makes more sense for the girls to have the high bar,, think about it,, if the guy slips,, he runs the risk of serious injury.. OUCH!!! ahahaha
