Default couch2-5k and taebo: Are they cardio?
Hey all,

Are running and Tae-bo considered cardio? Is it all right to do both everyday?

I really like running because I can go outside and do it, and so far (the last 3 days) I am kinda craving the run... in the evenings.

I am not having cramps or anything and my muscles aren't sore...of course I am not running the whole time, I am back on week one of the couch to 5k program. Actually it's more like a pre-stage 1 as I can't run the full 20 minutes alternating

CARDIO is anything that specifically trains your heart and cardiovascular system to work more effeciently. So if you feel your heart get faster when you are doing these things, yes that is cardio.

AEROBICS is pretty much the same thing, it is exercise that increases your intake of oxygen to fuel your workout.

Thanks for the pointer to the Couch to 5k progam. I had never heard it of it before and I know some people that will be very interested in it.

The Tae-Bo would be a good cardio. It gets very intense. Are you doing Bill's latest program or one of the older ones?

The running program will eventually lead to a sustained higher heart rate after a couple of weeks training, but looks really good for a starting program.

They're both cardio and you can do them every day. Running is high impact, so you need to build up to running every day. Tae bo is supposed to build strength, too.

You may also find that the early weeks of the c25k are light, since you're not running the entire time, so supplementing with TaeBo is good. Once you're able to run the 3 miles, you'll be getting much more out of it.

Remember not to burn yourself out! You want to make this a lifetime habit.

Ah I am addicted...I actually changed my workout to twice one day and only once the next.

So as not to get burnt. I ride the bike on the 4th to give the running impact a rest.

I still can't get into my new running shoes comfortably. My toe still hurts a bit.

I am almost to the point where I can finish the complete taebo workout (basic)
