I really like the Firm series, which combine low impact with free weights.

You can check out videofitness.com which gives reviews and descriptions of almost all the tapes. It's a great site.

I bought the tapes on-line. I will have to see if I can find the link. They are produced by Indian twins who are world renowned for their skill with belly dance. These particular tapes are geared toward belly dance for weight loss. I bought the pack which had the calorie burning, arms, buns and thighs and hips and waist or something like that - can't remember the combos. I had one out and my fiance's 8 yr old really loved them. My future MIL saw them and thought they were something that should could do to get exercise and keep limber. Great low impact but lots of flexibility and it isn't as easy as it looks. http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...on_biggrin.gif

Thanks Evrrdy
Is Yoga a fat burning workout? I did some research on the pilates and while they are great for low impact and rehab which is what they were invented as, they aren't a fat burning exercise which sort of shocked me.

I would love to do water aerobics but the local indoor pool has enough chlorine to blind me for the rest of the day even if I use goggles. I know several Atkins heavy weights who are losing rapidly with that as there exercise part of the plan.

Where did you get the bellydance tapes?

I use a Jack LaLanne video called Complete Body Workout it is pretty old so not sure if it could still be found. It is a half hour but works the whole body. There is one section where they go high impact but they do a wider view screen so half the group does high impact the other half stays low impact. Good Luck hope you can find it. http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...on_biggrin.gif

I have a series of belly dance tapes that is fairly low impact but really works a variety of muscles and adds a lot of flexability. Plus, it's fun! http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...on_biggrin.gif

low impact exercise tapes?

Does anyone know of any low impact exercise videos? I'm currently walking on my treadmill and doing a Pilaties tape. I'm looking for something that is easy on the knees.

Hi

I know you are looking for low impact tapes but have you ever tried water arobeics?

I go to my local YMCA and they have classes.

It is great fun and very easy on the joints. Also you can decide have intense you want the workout to be.

Like one of the excercises in runnig back and forth of the width of the pool. Some run at waist hight water wheras I will run the width of the pool with the water being right up at my neck

If nobody has ever heard of water arobecis I would highly reccomend it especially if you have problems with your joints.

Pilates is one of the best low impact workouts that I have done. Yoga is another one, but I don't know if this would help your knees any, because it does require balance, and balance typically involves a certain amount of stress on that joint.

However, Richard Simmons, should never be underestimated, and his workouts are designed for people with limited mobility. It might be worth looking in to.
