I guess I need to look into Pilates for those days I might not be able to walk. Everyone seems quite enthused about it. I have a device called a "body blade" that I used for muscle toning, but it is too long to take on a plane or pack in luggage. I think I should get one of those books on Pilates. Thanks for the information. I much appreciate it.

Good Luck! http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif

I have sciatica that flares from back down leg, and not suffered any pain at all with pilates. Your back problems are more severe though, id ask your doctor. What mine told me ages ago was i had no abdominal muscles and thats why my back was such a mess, so she recommended toning exercises and strength training.

I hear a lot of good talk about Pilates. I was thinking about ordering the DVDs. Is it hard on your back? I have a steel rod in my back, so I have to watch it.

When I was pretty I fit what I would do is alternate between doing ab work and Pilates and then yoga on the weekend just to break up the routine. Pilate’s can be hard on your back if you don’t get the right instructor. Since it’s a tape, you really have to understand the forms beforehand or you can injure yourself. Most tapes will spend about 10mins explaining them. I had Denise Austin and she just killed my back. You should go to Amazon, type in Pilates, and read all the reviews that come with them. This time around I’m going to learn from my mistake and do the same. Good Luck
