how much is enough?

Hey can i just ask how much does everyone exercise? is it like excessive amounts, or a few walks a week? the reason i ask is that i will shortly become a mum and perhaps cannot join the gym quite yet, so will strolling work?

Just get whatever exercise you can then gradually increase. The more the better, but I lost plenty of weight just doing minimal exercise until I got further along in the diet. If you don't have very much to lose, lots of exercise is probably going to be the way to lose it.

On the contrary I dont think that too much exercising can be said to be a good thing for the overall health, this is irrespective of the goals that you have in mind. So one might be exercising to attain weight loss while someone might be into it for the opposite. It is always advisable to have the advice of an expert to select the types of exercise and then adjust the diet and if required health supplements with it. Over exercising can again mean many problems.

Walking briskly for 30-45 minutes a day is probably the easiest form of exercise ever! I go to a gym for weights, but my cardio is done by walking.

Any increase over what you were doing before starting the diet will help.

For some, that may be as little as a walk around just 1 block.
For other, it might be quite a bit of hard exercise.

I usually go to the gym 4-5 days a week.

I do 20 minutes on the tread mill.... first 5 minutes I walk.. increasing my speed each minute..then I run the last 15 minutes...

I then go and do weights for about 40-60 minutes, depends on what body part I am doing that day.

I then go back and either do a stationary bike or an ellitical trainer for 15-20 minutes.

I was working out for bulk but now I am in the lose weight phase where I want to add in more cardio and less weights.

My friends doctor said that for weight loss purposes, you should do an areobic exercise (running, walking, ellitical, etc.) for a continuous 40 minutes, at least 3 times a week to see maximum results. It doesn't necessarily matter how fast your are going, just as long as you can keep it up for at least 40 minutes.
I hate running, so I usually do 40-50 minutes on the elliptical or I will do 30 minutes on the treadmill, walking the 1st 10, running/jogging the second 10 and walking the last 10...then ride the bike or get on the elliptical for the remainder.
Hope this helps.
