I have the dizzies
 

I woke up this afternoon feeling fine. A couple of hours later I was getting up from the couch and I nearly fell over because I was dizzy. It's usually not too bad unless my head changes elevation. If I bend over everything starts spinning. Does anyone have any ideas as to what would cause this? It happens to me from time to time. The last time it happened it was so bad that every time I moved my head at all I would get so nauseous that I'd have to throw up. THAT was not pleasant.

Inner ear problem, maybe?

Oh, and once I get home from work I will go to bed. When I get up I will be perfectly fine. I wish I knew of something that would take care of it now, though. It sucks trying to work when you're feeling dizzy all the time. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...thumbsdown.gif

You should see your doctor. Dizziness can be caused by so many things..... from minor to very serious. Age knows no barriers.

I understand about going to the doctors. I have to go every 3 months.... although I do stretch it out longer when I can.

You should keep a journal on these episodes. Write down what you've had to eat/drink and your sleeping pattern at the time. You never know what might be significant to a doctor.

*waves hands frantically* AHEM!!! Seriously...it sounds like vertigo. Been there, done that...it sucks balls. If you see a physician about it they can prescribe some antivert and some scopalomine (sp?) patches to help w/ the dizziness and nausea. If you have any questions feel free to ask...but what you're describing sounds a lot like what I went through last May...except I took my first ever ride in the back of an ambulance as a patient instead of a medic or student and landed in the hospital for 3 days. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif

Vertigo can hit suddenly and last for however long and then wait to occur again whenever it feels like it. I'd never had any kind of problem until last May when I woke up feeling okay, went to the bathroom, and nearly passed out. I was sitting there thinking "huh...did I just about pass out???" I ignored it and went back to bed...woke up to the room spinning. I called my mom and told her I needed to go to the hospital. The only reason I got stuck in the hospital for 3 days is b/c my initial CT scan showed what looked like a blood clot at the base of my skull. They wanted to keep me until they were absolutely sure it wasn't a clot and the neurologist had had a chance to thoroughly check me out.

Google "Epley Manuever"...it's an at home remedy that helps realign the crystals in your ears (which is what causes Vertigo). It made me really dizzy the first time I did it, but it really did help after that.
