Default Drinking
So I am a typical 18 year old - going out and drinking far too much alcohol and making myself feel like shit etc... I really would like to cut down though due to the impacts its having on my health as well as my conduct while under the influence, so does anyone have any tips on cutting down? I'd like to be able to enjoy drinking responsibly but it's so tempting to just keep going on nights out as its such a socially acceptable thing to do...
Any help appreciated, thanks

The easiest way to do this is to stop having friends - it so worked for me

Other than that it's sheer willpower and who has that

But really, it's just too easy to drink when everyone else is.

The best way to avoid drinking while out here in the states is to be a designated driver. It makes you look good because your helping out everyone else, and you have a great excuse for not drinking.

A lot of places will give you free non-alcy drinks if you are DD

Or you can have a non alcy, pretend it does have alcohol and then act drunk without any knowing the difference and then you'll remember how foolish your friends acted and get to tell them about it later and make fun of them being do ridiculous!

Yeah, I've tried to avoid being a designated driver as much as possible TBH for the reason I've wanted to get plastered (and I haven't been able to drive for all that long anyway) but I might start seeing how often I can take the mother's car to cut down... for the sake of my dignity and my liver

At your age, it can't be easy to say no when everyone else is having a good time and getting wasted. I never even thought to say no back then. Although I controlled how much I had. Maybe you could try that. Although it can be hard to say no to just one more after your drunk already and your inhibitions are lowered

Don't feel you have to get drunk out of your mind to be popular, drink at your own pace.

That's my problem, once I've started its hard to stop, its the "just one more" syndrome.

Springsteen, thats another problem my own pace is very fast as I naturally eat and drink (everything, not just booze) very quickly. But I'm defeinitely going to try being the designated driver when possible
