Default I got an elliptical yesterday.
I've been running on a treadmill for 4 1/2 years and I can't tell you how bored I was getting. I used the elliptical for the first time this morning and WOW! It seems to burn calories more efficiently than running.

Does anyone else here use one? This is a Nordic Track that works the arms too. Any suggestions or foibles I should watch for?

I have used them in the past. Certainly a more "all round" thing than a treadmill and therefore a lil less dull after a while.

It sure seems to be more all round. I can feel I was using different muscles in legs than the tread works. This should be interesting, at least I hope it will.

You can do them backwards too. I usually do ten minutes forward, ten back, ten forward... And sometimes I go up on my toes instead of flat footed and you can *really* feel it in your calves.

Super jealous, btw. Wish I had room for one of those.

Ohhhhhh!! I didn't know that you could work it backwards as part of the work out. I mean, I know it does go backwards, but I didn't consider how that could be beneficial. I'll have to try up on my toes too! COOOL!! Great ideas and sure to help me fight boredom!!

I had to move some stuff around to get it where it is, but it helps that the wheel is in the front. The machines with the wheel in the back would have been too big to deal with.

I have to deal with the rain, all the time...GRRRRRRR !! *shakes fist at NW rain gods* I won't take my pups out in the rain of if it's wet, it's just not worth it.

I think having the choice or using in combination will help get me. I like Kimmy's ideas too!
