Default Who here consisently eats flax meal?
I just started eating flax meal in the past week and a half and I'm just amazed at how I waited this long. I had bought it a couple times ( on my original atkins attempt and this one) but never did anything with it. Just kinda assumed that I wouldn't like it.

I think I've had between 2 to 4 tablespoons every days for 10 days. Here's the brand/type that I've been eating (http://www.bobsredmill.com/product.p...cat=107&page=2)

If anyone is dying for some bread like substance, give it a shot. There are a ton of recipes on all the lowcarb boards. My favorites are the flax "crackers" (good plain with butter or as a sandwich type wrap), one minute muffin (pore some dacini's on there for extra flavor, or just go with some butter) and then used it as a crust for low carb pizza. Its a nice little fiber boost to your diet too.

Feels you up too.

and they're really good with some shredded parmesan cheese mixed in.....nice for a burger bun.....

also with atkins shake mix for a "muffin", then don't bother adding any other sweeteners etc.

yep, i like the flax cracker - with parmy as well

mmmmcrackers - i may make some of those today...tril has pointed out that my "muffins" may have loads of cals (and they do ) - so i may switch to crackers for a while to shake things up a bit...how do you make yours? i haven't done it in ages!

2 TBS = 60 calories. If all you're having is 2 to 4 TBS a day, that's probably not going to be "too" bad, especially for a man... but it can add up fast. Also, be aware that the Omega-3 fatty acid in flax seed is NOT the type that the human body can absorb and use (like the kind found in salmon, for instance). The O-3 in flax has to be converted... and the conversion/absorbtion rates range from 7-25%, depending on the study you go by. Good for fiber, not for O-3.

oh, Flax, indeed you are a mighty seed
you come and help when bowels are in need
you must be crushed before you'll give your best
and then our happy bowels do the rest

OMG, Tracy.... are you OKAY?!? LOL

Love the outhouse... where'd you find that? I have an outhouse pendant. Uh huh. Really. It's sterling silver and the door opens. There's a person on the throne reading. LOL Why? Because no one ever believes me that WE have an outhouse and no bathroom at our camp AND, when I bought it, I was a reading teacher. The kids loved it. Heck, I still do.
