is anyone here hypoglycemic?

mine is mostly just pregnancy induced, but I am wondering if being hypoglycemic actually makes you LESS hungry? Like when I actually NEED food because my sugar is so low, my body doesn't want it and eating makes me sick. The thought of food repulses me right now and I know that isn't good because my blood sugar was 46 this morning http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif probably why i couldnt sleep also huh.

I am. And yes. That does happen.

why? you'd think the body's natural reaction would be to make you hungry, not have an aversion to eating. I really don't know what to eat, nothing sounds good. I know I need more protein but I don't feel like gorging myself.

My wife went through the same thing, she literally had to force feed herself.

And to deny yourself nourishment is to deny the baby nourishment..

remember that time i posted about waking up in target in the lawn furniture section and not knowing where i was? yeah i am pretty sure i fainted and happened to land in a chair, or passed out just as i sat down or something. I'm thinking now that its getting bad again i need to carry some glucose tablets with me or something, it is really hard to remember that i HAVE to eat every 2-3 hours. I almost passed out today in the car in traffic : /

Orange juice and peanut butter & crackers are great for diabetics. Or so my diabetic friend tells me. They will raise your blood sugar but not spike you and drop you.

dXI9XFOA 08-27-2008 10:31 PM

for some reason i think my body knows that, because everythign ive been eating lately has peanut butter on it! weird huh? OJ sounds yummy too actually. That's pretty much all i can tolerate...bread, bananas, and peanut butter.

See there^^http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/clap.gif

the organic kind is actually the best for you btw (not healthwise but in a suagr related way) .. because it doesn't have processed sugars in it. The same goes for OJ .. get the most natural type you can (the kind that comes int he clear plastic weird looking container is best .. I think it's like Tropicana Pure or something).

Ruiptuptubre 08-27-2008 10:41 PM

good idea, thanks for the info. I didnt think about getting organic but that sounds about right.

nd90t3sf 08-27-2008 10:43 PM

no problem http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif .. I have several diabetic friends .. and I have done the good carb/bad carb diet .. so I got some inside info lol. One of thems ays she never leaves home without a pack of those orange peanut butter crackers in her purse lol.

Jadykeery 08-27-2008 11:49 PM

Zysyewgg 08-28-2008 01:03 AM

you're getting close to the end of your pregnancy right?...things can go a bit bonkers around then so if you find you levels really bouncing around you might with to talk to your doctor about it.

ptolerezort 08-28-2008 03:33 AM

Grits are good to eat, too, to help get your sugar up and keep it up. It doesn't wear off as quickly as orange juice or something like that. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif
