Recreational Drugs And Their Level Of Harm

Interesting.

Recreational Drugs and their level of harm

How the government can possibly justify their stupid laws on recreational drugs is beyond me!

Mediconlinee 08-14-2008 01:28 AM

That is really interesting... Does it take a graph however to spell out the dangers of alcohol to the government? Yet the relative safety of the common drugs anyone can buy?

UriDepkeeks 08-14-2008 01:32 AM

I think that by persisting with these outdated laws the government is misleading people. Personally I'm for all drugs being legal but if you think they should be banned according to the harm you can do yourself, the law paints a false picture which permeates society. I'm pretty sure there are a hell of a lot of people who think dropping Es are more harmful than smoking for instance.

As a former coke user and someone who has seen over even a fairly short period the damage heroin does to people I find the whole thing ludicrous.

If your not going to grade recreational drugs legality on their impact and damage, then what the fuck are you grading them on?
We apparantly pride ourselves on living in a modern society dictated by knowledge, or logic... But clearly in some matters we have neither.

just say no

Harm to what? What is this chart and study basing itself on? Harm to self? Harm to others? Long term harm? short term harms?

People have passed out & been sent to hospitals to have their stomachs pumped, let alone people who've died from ODing on cocaine, LSD, Heroine, and other illegal drugs. You think thats less harmful than a 20-30+ year death sentence tobacco is? I don't get the point of this. Perhaps if everything is reclassified and the laws are loosened up a bit, do you think people driving high will do it less, or more?

I guarantee you if I drove drunk I'd hit something or someone. I guarantee you if I drove stoned off pot I'd hit something or someone.

Does this study take that into account?

But can you take into account not looking both ways on before crossing the road when you've drunk a bit too much?

What you have stated are variables, and the whole idea of a scientific study is to eliminate as many variables as possible.

Thats my point. It's not about variables. I'm not suited to be driving in either situation because of whatever I took caused me to not be in my right mind.

I apologise then for misreading your interpretation, I thought you wanted to add more variables into the study. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif

James wasn't actually proving anything if you read his posts, he was just giving his opinion, a few good points too, I feel.
