Default I slipped :( What now?
Hi,

I was weak today and had about 1000 kalories, maybe even 1200, including some sugars and starches (god do I love shortbread...). What now? Is there anything I can do to deal with the backlash?

I feel terrible

Cheers!
R.

Unfortunately, nothing you can do - you just gotta "eat" whatever stall or gain happens, and it can take a while to get losing again.

Read this, though - geared at paleo, but true nonetheless.

I go thru a clinic, and to drive home the point about cheating they say that if you cheat, you might as well flush the next 3 injections down the toilet. That image stayed with me. Your diet isn't over, but it will take at least 3 days before you start losing again. We just tell folks to get back on the horse and ride. Realize there is a price to be paid, and hopefully the cheat was worth it. .

thanks... I'm trying not to have a nervous breakdown about this... So I am trying to tell myself: even if I gain, that's not going to be the end of the world. maybe a slightly longer r2. 11 days to go in r1p2

Well, I decided I might as well just use the extra energy and have a proper workout

That's the spirit! Don't beat yourself up....life keeps going on while we are trying to lose weight, and sometimes, it just gets in the way justifiably! Ya know? We don't live in a bubble....just get back on protocol and keep on going. A slip is just a slip, it's not the end unless you make it that. You have a choice. Hugs. .

I gained almost a pound, but that's no big surprise as I also had quite some cured meats and they have so much salt!

If ya fall off...just get back on the horse and keep riding...My Doc has told me if I "cheat" the possibility of no losing for a few days, or causing a stall...thankfully that hasn't happened yet. The thought however, has kept me from allowing myself to "fall off the horse" to often. What I have done in the past is when the cravings are getting really bad (I think the cravings thing has more to do with boredom with the allowed food than with wanting the other food) or if my will power and I are at odds more so than normal, I plan a cheat day. It is usually the day after an appointment and I try not to go too crazy, but on that day if I want a cheeseburger or a slice of pizza I eat one. When this happens I gain 1 - 2 lbs and takes a day or two to get on track. I figure a measured slip is better than an unintentional one.

the weird one was the last one (about a month ago)...I know a place that makes an amazing fish sandwich (the best part is the bread they use) and decided to have chicken and waffles for dinner....woke up the next morning and had lost a pound...I was VERY happy and was better able to withstand the bombardment of the world of food around me...
