So a little history first:
I'm 26, female, on continuous birth control and I NEVER have periods or spotting. I have been on HCG injections 12.5cc (I think, I fill the needle to 12.5 anyway.. what the dr prescribed) I started at 207 and am now down to 202.4 but have been on HCG for two weeks!!!! Not only am I not losing weight the way I thought I would (which I'm hearing is common with women so I'm not stressing over it) I am now having a period! I started spotting and today have bleeding/ full blown period. I normally NEVER have a period and I'm also taking birth control pills so why am I bleeding? I called my OBGYN and they think I'm crazy for taking HCG for weightloss and were also very unhelpful. They acted like they wouldnt touch the topic. The "DR." who prescribed the HCG is actually just a nurse and had no idea why I would be having a period. Now normally I'd assume this just might be a side effect of hormones however I have had discharge for over a week now. Even when I had periods they never lasted longer than 4-5 days. I feel crummy! On a side note I have gained and lost a pound everyday that I have been spotting. For example: Mon: -1 Tues: +1 Wed: -1 Thurs: +1 and so on.... so basically I'm staying the same weight. I am POP. Even doing apple days, drinking my water/ tea ect so its not my diet. So my question is should I continue the HCG or take a break and see if this period stops? I'm afraid if I stop the HCG my period will stop but as soon as I inject again it will return. Anyone having this problem? There's so much conflicting information out there!!!! |

No worries.... Quite a lot of us are having weird periods, even the ones that shouldn't have any for various reasons.
![]() The interesting question is how many iu you are taking. Are you hungry at all? Apple days are pretty useless, even Simeons said so... Are you counting your loading weight? What exactly are you eating? Clinics sometimes have "funny" protocols.... And weird dosage. |

Thanks for the quick reply! I am sometimes hungry, mostly in the am. I have not noticed the apple days doing anything for me so I figured that was crap. I have noticed my water intake makes a difference and if I dont consume a gallon or darn close to it I dont lose my pound. I only gained a pound during loading. My starting weight before loading or my 1st injection was 207. My first day I was still 207 and my second day (second injection) I was 208. Then the day I started my diet I'd already lost that pound when I woke up.

Ask your doc how many iu's you are taking? The cc doesn't say anything without knowing how it was mixed.
Women generally lose about 0.5 to 0.75 a day... Could be you weren't storing all that much water beforehand. And it could really be the -albeit unexpected - TOM. I gained 4.5 lbs in a single day before that. Joy. |

I'll try to get an answer to that question. I'm on day 15 of the diet (plus two days loading makes 17 days injecting) I have only lost 5lbs so it seems I'm losing less than most. I'm happy to have lost 5lbs but having my tom for the last 9 days is wearing me thin. I'm bout ready to give up. I take cont use birth control specifically not to have periods b/c I HATE them. I'll post when I find out the IU on that HCG The bottle says 1000 U/ml and says its a 5ml bottle I think. Oh, and mine does NOT have the b-12 already mixed in. I'm not doing the b-12 b/c it makes my migraines way way way worse
My husband was doing the HCG also and his bottle was 5000 u/ml but did have the b-12 in it. he lost over 35 lbs in the 40 days. He had WAY less weight to lose than I do. He had a total of about 30lbs to lose and I need to lose about 67-77lbs |

Really? and this didnt worry you? you can become anemic or have over active ovaries (or whatever they call it) having a period and bleeding for that long can not be safe.
My obgyn also expressed that hcg will mess with my fertility in the future. R1 I thought I was going to hemorrhage, I made joke of taking stock in pads and tampons. It was so bad that I had to pack extra clothes anytime I went any where. |

It is normal to have strange periods on hcg. Some have them more often, less often, heavier, lighter, longer, shorter, some bleed the entire time. If you are really bleeding so heavily that you're worried, I would go see a doctor to ask about weakness or anemia from loss of blood. Throughout my teenage years, I had heavy periods that lasted 7 days minimum, so I don't think 9 days of bleeding will harm you.
You're losing very, very slowly and that isn't normal. I suspect your diet is wrong or your dose is off. At this point, it may be that your dose is too high for you. And what are you eating? Most clinics use a different diet than the original one and those diets don't work very well. Clinics usually use a different dose of hcg which doesn't work as well. Far be it from me to criticize a doctor, but your doctor is full of crap. Hcg is a medication used for infertility. It's purpose is to help you get pregnant. But we're taking a minuscule amount. And if you were pregnant, your body would naturally produce tons of the stuff. It isn't messing with your future fertility except that some people get pregnant more easily while doing the protocol. |

I woke up this am and had lost over 2lbs but I didnt take my birth control pill last night... not sure if that's related. My diet is good. I'm pop and only cheated one time. My dose is 125iu/ day for 40 days. The obgyn basically said injecting it would cause me to later on have a hard time naturally producing as much as I normally would. I'm not sure what to believe b/c I've seen 4 drs and they all conflicted each other on this stuff. lol I honestly believe no one knows and not enough studies have been done to tell.
