Default I've not seen this addressed before, and boy am I STUMPED!
***Let me preface that this is about contraception and TOM, so if you don't want to go further, I won't be offended***

I have had two IUDs in place over the last 10 years (2 5-yr devices). As a total bonus, I have not had a period during those past 10 years . I have not had a hysterectomy and have not been through menopause. I'm just one of the lucky ones who doesn't menstruate with an IUD.

However, on P2D8, I got my period. I assume this is a result of HCG, but don't really know. I certainly didn't find anything about this in Pounds & Inches. Is this something I need to question with my doc?

Thanks!

I don't have an IUD but I take lybrel bcps, no period week. I spot almost my entire p2. I think its pretty "normal" last round it stopped on p3.

I've seen it happen quite often on the forum. Hcg messes with your period. It just does.

This is probably something you want to discuss with your OBGYN or Dr and not take medical advice from people on a forum.

I take BCP and only get my TOM every 3 months. Very light and only about 3 days when I get it.

P2, Day 13 I started what I would call "spotting" and it lasted until P4. Yep.....almost 2 months!!! There would be a day or maybe 2 it would stop but come right back. it was awful. And the best part...it finally stopped and 3 days later it was time for my "scheduled" TOM....ARGH!!!

From what I read, it's common on HCG. I also once had a doctor tell me that any drastic changes in diet or exercise could bring about TOM. But if you're concerned, call your doctor.

I also have an IUD. I am not one of the lucky ones to have all TOM stop because of the IUD... however I was just starting my TOM when entering phase 2, when it completely stopped. No sign of it anywhere. Hoping this continues because it would be a nice little perk!

This is it in a nutshell. The few times I did Atkins, within a few days I would get my period whether it was time for it or not. It also happened on I think the 3rd day of VLCD in my first round. I don't know if it's just our bodies freaking out, detoxing, estrogen being released as fat cells are depleted, or what. I've heard the last theory (about estrogen being stored in fat cells) several times and I'd like to believe it since it only seems to happen to me on diets where I am actually losing weight. Other diets where I might go down a pound then up a pound, I don't get the early periods.

This is my first post here on this forum, as I have been a "lurker" for about a week. I take 30 mgs of medroxyprogesterone nightly to stop my periods. They were horrible for nearly 20 years. I begged for a hysterectomy but the docs won't do it. They say there is no medical reason for it. I finally found a gyno that suggested the pills instead and I have not had a period in 2 years. It is not affecting my weight loss, as I am on day 7 of the VLCD and have basically lost a lb or so a day. However, yesterday, I started spotting. It is very mild and I am not worried because I know it is a result of the HCG and the diet change.
