Hi all,
I am very frustrated and wondering why this diet doesn't work for me. I did round one with Rx hCG drops, and was hungry constantly, though I had plenty of energy. I tried increasing and decreasing the dose and was never able to find a happy spot in which I was not starving. Based on moderator advice, I stopped the diet at 35 days, having lost about 20 lbs (including loading weight). I was able to maintain my loss in P3, and P4 (although I was not really able to add back many carbs or starches without gaining). I was advised to try R2 with injections, which I started last weekend at 125 units. I am now starting day 3 of VLCD, and have been extremely hungry AGAIN! I had to eat extra protein last night just so I could get to sleep. I don't think I can take another round of constant hunger, and wondering if this diet just won't work for me, and if so WHY??? My current weight is 135 with a goal of 115 (I'm 5'1"). Can anyone give me advice? Thanks! Pea |

First, increase your dose to 150. That's a better starting dose for injections.
I don't know why this doesn't work to eliminate your hunger, but I'm sorry you're struggling so much. That must have been horrible to do your whole first round with constant hunger. I am usually not hungry the first few days, then hungry a couple days, then ready to chew my arm off about the 7th or 8th day and planning to quit the diet. Then the next day, all hunger disappears completely. This stuff is strange. And my first 3 rounds, my best sublingual rx dose was about 118 iu twice a day. This round, I'm closer to 135 iu. |

I also think 125 iu might be too low, especially the first week. The clinic I use has you take a higher dose the first couple of days to kinda get your blood level up. Most folks have some hunger the first week, especially if they have had any carbs recently. Your body really begs for you to continue to feed the carb metabolic machine....it doesn't want to switch back to fat burning. Normally we say to skip a dose and see if your hunger is better or worse, but you are so early in the round, I would just increase to 150 and see if it helps or makes no difference.

hey peagreen -I seem to be having the same issues. I am taking sublingual also, 2x/day P2D12 - had a 14 oz gain on day 10, then lost 8 oz and now stalled for the second day, skipped fruit and melba last night. Started at .5 felt great then starving around day 7. skipped 2 doses and then upped to .6 and now I feel drained and hungry again. I would also love to know how to find that "sweet spot". I even mixed a new batch of drops because I saw condensation in my bottle and thought maybe it was a little diluted. I would appreciate any advice.

Dawn, did you feel worse when you skipped two doses? That would be the only reason to increase after skipping.
Peagreen, I totally agree with what you've been told--125 is too low for most people, especially at the beginning of the round. Some find they need to drop there after a couple of weeks on the protocol but most can't start there. |

It's not unusual to struggle to find the right dose. Especially on sublingual because you're never sure how much someone is absorbing and it can vary by how long you hold it under your tongue. Another reason I think injections are the best way. You might try going to .55. You might have gone too high. It will take several days to get on the right dose without a skip day though.
