i think the quest bars are about as good as it gets, for high protein, low carbs and high fiber. they do use splenda for a sweetener, but you have to use something... i thought they were pretty good but there are only 2 flavors.

the lara bars are good but only if you're not eating a lot of fat, because dates are extremely high in sugar.
I tried out a box of quest bars after seeing mgsondance's recommendation and I am pleased with these bars. They taste good and are something I can eat everyday without getting tired of the taste. I cannot stand the taste of stevia - I'd take splenda over stevia any day. You can find them by doing a quick google search for "quest bar." I would recommend them as well, to anyone who is looking for a low-carb bar.

here's an interesting option i found today- you can design your own bar. pick the base, type of protein, type of sweetener, etc. For those of you who are on groupon.com, there is a groupon out today where you spend $12 to get $25 off these bars. http://www.groupon.com/deals/you-bar...CE@HOTMAIL.COM

I keep MET-RX Protein Plus bars in the house. THey are really good - the chocolate peanut caramel tastes like a candy bar. They come in 2 sizes the large is 300 calories so you need to split it into 2 different servings, but they also do have a small bar sold at some stores. Half a bar 155 calories, 16g protein, 4.5g fat, 1.5g impact carbs. There is something about these bars - I always have a good day when I eat one. Lots of good vitamins and minerals in them. They do have maltitol so they can cause some gas and intestinal upset in some people.

Or, you can make your own. I made some with chocolate whey protein, peanut butter, flax meal and water. You could add nuts or dried fruit also.
Hi Chappywife,
Looking for protein bars recipes and as you used my favorite ingredients in your protein bar recipe so want your recipe with ingredients quantity and directions. Thanks in advance for any input.

I just bought a box of assorted quest bars! The all natural ones. They are sweetened with Stevia too. Coconut cashew, strawberry cheesecake, lemon bars, cinnamon rolls and chocolate peanut butter! Booo Ya! I'm pretty excited about them.
