Question about breakfast during P2

I have a qustion about the timing of the first meal of the day. I have been waking up at 7:30am, taking my injection, and having my scoop of strawberry whey protine mixed with water. A couple of times now I have taken the injection and went to work forgetting to have the shake. I would then have the shake at luch and have "lunch" after work and supper in the late evening. I noticed that when missing the morning shake, I have not felt any hunger until near noon anyways and by moving my meals back like that I have had less cravings late at night (I am a night owl). Is there anything wrong with not having my shake first thing in the morning? I know that not having breakfast can be bad on other diets? Any thoughts?

eat whenever you want, as long as you stay under 500 calories that day

uranbigis 05-15-2012 06:34 PM

Awesome, Thanks for the info. I have downloaded an excellent calorie counter for my blackberry and I keep a close eye on staying in the 500 range. I have a couple days around the 550 range but im sure thats not gonna kill anyone. I am happy to know that I can stager my breakfast like that.

Loonerisav 05-15-2012 07:06 PM

I'm a little confused. Are you following the hcg protocol food list, or are you just eating 500 calories? The plan calls for lunch and dinner, but you can eat some of your food in the morning for breakfast if you wish.

Siliespiriulk 05-15-2012 07:09 PM

i'd assume he's substituting a protein for a protein shake. off protocol, but that's what some people do

asivisepo 05-15-2012 07:28 PM

I am following what was on the sheet that my doc gave me. I will explain what I am doing.

Breakfast : 1 serving of Strawberry Whey Protien mixed with water (100 Cal)
Lunch : 4 oz of chicken breast or steak (lean, no skin, fat removed ....yada yada yada) with an approved veggie (usually onion)
Supper : 4 oz of chicken breast or steak (lean, no skin, fat removed ....yada yada yada) with an approved veggie (usually onion)
Snack : 3 or 4 medium strawberries

I have been doing the same thing for a week now and have not grown tired of it yet. I am not sure what protocol is.
The only way that my calories for the day fluctuate is if I am a couple measly points over or under the 4oz's of chicken or beef OR the amount of strawberries I have snacked on.
This is day 7 and this morning my total was -19lbs since I started
Am I doing anything incorrect???

replrobin 05-15-2012 08:58 PM

protein shakes are not on Dr. Simeon's original manual. you should read it. it's called "Pounds and Inches" just google the pdf
you're also not limited to chicken breast and steak

pennadyFeet 05-15-2012 08:59 PM

I don't know if incorrect is the right word... Simeons protocol is a daily allotment of 3.5 oz of allowed lean protein (weighed prior to cooking), 2 allowed veggies and 2 allowed fruits, plus 1 melba toast or 1 grissini breadstick.

replicajoy 05-15-2012 09:45 PM

Ok I will give it a read for sure. I was given a printout sheet from my doctor along with the perscription to the HCG Injections. Seems to be working pretty well but perhaps I am not maximizing my potential.

treawittelf 05-15-2012 10:16 PM

Could one of you give me a menu example of one of your days ?

allmyflights 05-15-2012 10:50 PM

I would eat an apple or half a grapefruit for breakfast (I'm a breakfast eater) with coffee.

Lunch-ground beef seasoned with chili powder and tomatoes.

Snack- apple or strawberries

Dinner-chicken and asparagus

I hope this helps!

Here is my food for today

Breakfast: coffee
Snack: Melba toast round
2 stalks of celery
Lunch: (pre cooked weight) 3.5 oz of steak
1 Orange
2 stalks of celery
Green tea
Snack: 2 stalks of celery
Dinner: (p.c.w.) 3.5 oz of chicken breast
2 cups of butter lead lettuce
Iced tea

I still have a fruit and breadstick left but I am an evening snacker and know that so I am trying to save them. I have 87 calories left and the strawberries and breadstick will take about 60 of that.

Here's the original food list from P&I:

The Diet

The 500 Calorie diet is explained on the day of the second injection to those patients who will be preparing their own food, and it is most important that the person who will actually cook is present - the wife, the mother or the cook, as the case may be. Here in Italy patients are given the following diet sheet.
BREAKFAST: Tea or coffee in any quantity without sugar. Only one tablespoonful of milk allowed in 24 hours. Saccharin or other sweeteners may be used.
LUNCH: 100 grams of veal, beef, chicken breast, fresh white fish, lobster, crab, or shrimp. All visible fat must be carefully removed before cooking, and the meat must be weighed raw. It must be boiled or grilled without additional fat. Salmon, eel, tuna, herring, dried or pickled fish are not allowed. The chicken breast must be removed raw from the bird.
One type of vegetable only to be chosen from the following: spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens, green salad, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, cabbage.
One breadstick (grissino) or one Melba toast.
An apple or an orange or a handful of strawberries or one-half grapefruit.
DINNER : The same four choices as lunch.

The juice of one lemon daily is allowed for all purposes. Salt, pepper, vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, sweet basil, parsley, thyme, majoram, etc., may be used for seasoning, but no oil, butter or dressing.
Tea, coffee, plain water, or mineral water are the only drinks allowed, but they may be taken in any quantity and at all times.

I don't eat breakfast in P2, I just have water & coffee in the morning. I too get up at 7:30am, eat lunch around noon. http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/smile.png

SkHukV3N 05-16-2012 07:16 PM

I am experimenting as well now.... Weight might not be the best measure right now, since I am on a water gain with TOM coming... but maybe I get lucky and have a woosh tomorrow. http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/smile.png

Tried actual breakfast for the first time today, with 2 red onions and 2 egg whites. Yummy. And I wasn't hungry all day, only had cucumber for lunch. And now my chicken and more cucumber for dinner. Still well within the 500kcal range, hoping the eggs won't be a problem. My 3 office days a week are just sometimes difficult to plan - official lunch break at noon is too early for me, and I am only home around 7pm. Oh, and I dropped the grissini and fruit early on, since they weren't helping.

Curious to see what works for you guys... and for me. http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/smile.png

Day 7 and 19 lb down.................blimey - well done, protocol or not, you're doing something right.

with a result like that I think I'd have a ceremonial burning of Dr Simeons protocol and dance around the flames naked with a protein shake in my hand http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...es/biggrin.png

Sometimes I wonder if it isn't more important to stay at or under the 500 cal as what you are eating?

My menu:

Coffee morning
lunch is 3.5oz lean meat usually with cabbage or a tomato
same for supper
tea for night

But boy would I love to have an atkins shake or something in the morning my menu means I'm usually at 400 cal and wonder if I couldn't afford a 100 cal low carb shake?

I don't eat the fruit or breadstick as I find it just makes me hungry

Would be interesting to know if you could say use low fat frozen meal like weight watchers instead?? I don't dare try it but it would be a nice variety

frozen meals are usually packed with sodium, so def no to those
anytime you go to non-natural foods, there is a catch in there somewhere

LOL.. I wont go that far. I have actually since cut out the morning shake only because I am never hungry in the morning. It also worried me that I was not doing the right thing. The sheet from my doctor said to have one in the am but whatever. I have also never had the breadsitck or melba toast (low carb has been burned into my head). I am on day #9 and down 21lbs and not hungry or thinking of cheating. I do feel like I have no energy in the evenings though. I will have to go down to the pharmacy and pick up my prescription for vitimin B12 injection. Maybe that will pick me up a bit.

Thanks everyone for the daily diet menu's. I am trying to follow along your guidelines. Its pretty easy when your never very hungry http://hcgdietinfo.com/hcgdietforums...lies/smile.png

Nope, doubt it. A huge part of the success or failure of "rogue" elements seems to be the glycemic index, though... one reason why broccoli seems to work for most people, despite being off protocol.

I am wary of anything packed, powdered, etc. So much crap is usually in there, including hidden sugars and carbs. It is so much easier to give your body real fuel that it knows how to handle, instead of shakes or bars.
