Default Help for dealing with my mother coming to dinner...
I am currently in P2 Day 5.

So my mom is coming over tomorrow (she lives about 45 mins away). I am not telling my mother I am taking hCG because I just don't want to get into it with her. You know how you "just know" a conversation isn't going to go well? No conversation about weight loss with my mother ever leaves me in a better mood, so I avoid the topic like the plague. Other than that, I'm looking forward to her coming.

So, when she comes down, she always wants to take us out to eat or get take-away or something. My husband and teen son know I am doing hCG and are so supportive - we have a plan. My husband is making burgers and is going to make sure mine is 100 g and keep it to the side so it doesn't get taken by someone else by accident. I won't have a bun, just pickles and mustard and wrap it in lettuce. My son is doing his amazing oven roasted potatoes (which I will gaze longingly at, but not eat - I'm strong). When my mom says, let's go out instead, my son is going to say, "But Grandma, I've been wanting to make these for you!" She can't possibly resist that, right? While I know it's possible to go out and be OK during phase 2, if I order plain chicken or fish in a restaurant, it's just an invitation for her to ask why I'm not ordering something yummy, after all, she's paying, etc.

When my mom wants to know why I'm not having a bun or potatoes, I am going to say casually that I am cutting back on carbs right now. Then change the subject. Or my son will bring something up to distract her. I wish I didn't have to do this, but I want have a nice evening. Not one that revolves around weight loss.

Anyway, how does my plan sound? Any other thoughts or helpful hints on dealing with family (or friends)? I do plan to tell her eventually, but not until I reach P3 or P4 and can say, "See how it worked?"

That sounds like it will work! I love that your husband and son are so supportive that they have this plan with you. They really have your back and that's really awesome! I'm also a big fan of pulling the 'not feeling too well lately' card, especially if it's around someone I don't see all that often. That's where you strategically eat exactly what you know you can eat and if someone brings it up just say you had a large lunch and don't have much of an appetite or say that you had something the day before that didn't totally agree with you and you don't want to put too much in your stomach at once. Usually works pretty well, it's enough to make sense but not enough to make someone worry about it. Good luck!

Good ideas! Thank you. My mom is a nurse and if I say too much she tried to diagnose me...LOL! But I think, "eh, bit of an upset tummy" probably won't set off her sensors.
